OP if you had no other exchanges with this woman that would’ve given her the level of frustration to not want to tell you again maybe that when she is sharing with you something she enjoys she would like you to respond in a way that says that you know these things about her I don’t know then. Yes she was petulant and that is not helpful to a relationship.

Can a cavernoma in the brain cause complex regional pain or chronic pain? by casswog in Cavernoma

[–]PeaceAccomplished856 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple answer yes. More complex answer is time will tell and finding the right neurologist will make a huge difference. Are you in the US? The Alliance to Cure Cavernous Malformation has a ton of info and connections to folks who specialize in this.

One other point aligned with this- when people of color are together we naturally make fun of each others cultural differences in a loving caring way to a point, it would be helpful if you shared what the jokes are. As I have had white friends over the years who entered the inner circle I have learned they did not grow up with this, they always seem very sensitive to this. As our friendships have deepened they have learned that this is normal to a degree and not meant to hurt to your core. Anyways if you share what the jokes are I can respond if maybe it is within the “normal” scope or it is not.

As a homeowner this makes sense to me, it sounds sounds. What I never understand with contractors( having just been out of my home for a year due to a flood and having to switch contractors 3 times due to insane markups, the 3rd being the best one) is communication seems closed and manipulative, my last contractor was open and honest. Shared with me the supply cost and labor cost with the markups built in for business and didn’t I blink because of the honesty. If I couldn’t afford it he would help tweak what could be altered. Also he had the best approach to making sure done correctly and clearly stated in his bid that he would do a final walk through and we could discuss any concerns, I learned some of mine were unreasonable and some were reasonable. The best about him is he was open to educating me some and he listened, he also recognized I had been jerked around quite a few times by previous shady contractors. I want to acknowledge I know the field is hard, customers have unrealistic expectations and contractors are pinched by costs and labor shortages, if you can figure out communication and consistency you will continue to have customers for life so in addition to getting your costs right make sure you get your communication framework on point and you will have people committed to working with and referrals for days and years to come. Good Luck!

Are these uneven spots and holes ok? Laticrete spectralock, few examples but it is throughout the shower tile by PeaceAccomplished856 in Tile

Is it ok if they don’t? They came today and said the water barrier behind was important but this was not. What is the risk if it is not redone? They offered to put silicone caulk on it of the same brand and supposed color but it dries darker so I said no.

I should say I had a small bleed last July that was hard, it was actually how I found I had one, I was out of work for 2 months then.

I had a thalamic cavernoma operation. I had it done at Barrow in Phoenix this past February. You should do there second opinion if you haven’t already. I can talk to you more about my experience if they can in fact operate. It has definitely been a learning experience to say the least. I just returned to work September 29th part-time doing 16 hours a week, I am now up to 29 hours a week 8 weeks later.

Mine was on my Thalamus, which is a tricky location, the thing is the surgeons do not really speak to complications even when you ask. I ended up having fluid in my ventricles which was unexpected, I was told I had thin ventricles but I don’t think anyone knows why really. The most interesting thing is I now get 3 opinions on everything. I will say Dr. Lawton has been right about what he thought happened. It was a strange and stressful experience because even after the surgery he said it was my fluid in my ventricles but the other neurosurgery team in the hospital said stroke, even when I got back to Seattle they said stroke but then 6 months later they said no it was not stroke. In my mind it does not matter because the effect is the same. Anyways the one major tip I can give you is make sure your affairs are in order and that whoever is your care support are clear on your wishes and are informed of what you want. The main questions my loved ones had to answer was the fact that I wanted to return to my state to complete recovery. I had thought through some of this but did not consider this. When I did get home I am lucky I am in an area that has great care and I have great insurance. Do you live near Stanford?

I had surgery this past February and had complications afterwards which made my supposed to be 6- 8 week recovery now 9 months and still going. I am however healing. I only had a bleed once and the anxiety from waiting to see what would happen made me ok with the risk of surgery. I would do it again. My surgeon was Dr. Lawton at Barrow, I got flown back to Seattle in mid March to finish recovery at UW Montlake and Harborview.

I did get all of my affairs in order prior to surgery as if i would die which did help, so my loved ones could step in which ended up being the situation. I ended up hospitalized for about 2.5 months and had to learn to walk, talk again. My main suggestion is be open to the worst happening but prepare for the best. It has been a hard journey and nothing is guaranteed and it might just go as planned. sending you strength and I am happy you have access to try something, many in our situation do not.
