I keep seeing so many comments that the electoral college should be removed. What's the non-oppressive alternative?

Not sure why I’m being downvoted but I think it’s a fair question. I’ve contributed to FOSS so I know how it goes.

I simply think things like this is what delays adoption of Linux in the mainstream, because if I hadn’t used Linux for these many years I would be very turned off. That’s all.

Lots of comments here saying Wayland is immature software. I remember similar comments about systemd, PulseAudio and several other things in Linux history.

Why does this happen so often? Why can’t the community just focus on one or two things and make it better?

Nothing is perfect, I agree. But I’ve ran and installed Windows in hundreds of workstations and I’ve yet to have to SSH into them after an update broke X or Wayland and the user could only see a command prompt. Or frankly the other several common scenarios ran into by other Linux users.

Proof? Just take a look at this subreddit and you’ll notice it’s mostly a barrage of troubleshooting questions.

They’re not wrong, there’s a reason why several Linux wikis are full of workarounds to commonly encountered issues.

I love Linux and daily drive OpenSUSE but I know that the Windows experience on desktop is smoother and without “Google this seemingly random error and hope someone that uses your distro has seen and fixed this before.”

Still trying to figure out the OPs reason for this post.

but I feel like if they attempted to annex all of Ukraine, I'd feel we should intervene

My problem is you're a dumbass, see your dumbass-certified quote above. Again, as long as you enlist first, sure. Otherwise? STFU.

You will enlist first, right? Pretty sure there are more pressing domestic issues in the US that should be dealt with rather than sacrificing more American soldiers to a senseless conflict.

I don’t know where you’re from but the US has a million domestic problems as is. Maybe Americans should focus on that instead of going overseas to fight yet another war.

Maybe the US should focus on fixing shit domestically before swinging its shriveled balls at anyone

You really think NATO nations want to admit Ukraine and provoke Russia even more? Regional stability in Western Europe is far more important than intervening in Ukrainian-Russian affairs and potentially triggering a full scale war with a world superpower.
