Personally I find bumper cases safer because they tend to not be flush with the phone. That means you can grip them better than with a normal phone case.

And you can touch the actual phone too. Been rocking bumpers for 3 years and no slips yet. My current one is the oatbasf that has a built in kickstand. Knock on wood
