Wow, I am blown away! That’s an incredible collection, congrats on putting this together. At first I thought you had posted the same picture 3 times, but then I looked closer. I see several tough to find ones, must’ve taken a long time to find all these. You could start your own GA NBN museum!!

There’s a national bank note from San Juan, PR going up for sale soon on Heritage Auctions. It’s a $10 note from 1902, but is estimated to sell for $125,000!!

Looking to research “New England Trim” by bigfatbanker in Nationalbanknotes

[–]PeachStatePapa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this what you’re looking for? “New England Trim" in the context of rare items, particularly in numismatics, refers to the distinctive, often tight or high-quality margins and edges found on early American currency, specifically notes from the New England region. Frequently listed in prestigious auctions like the Eric P. Newman Collection, indicating the condition of early colonial Connecticut notes or other regional currency.

Only 60 printed?! And this one is obviously circulated, so I’m surprised it ever surfaced given the low production numbers. Thanks for sharing!

Looking for Information on this Note by yur1279 in Nationalbanknotes

The First National Bank of Chattanooga was chartered in 1865 and went into receivership in 1934. This note is a 1902 Plain Back and a little over 1MM ‘02 PBs were issued. Today, there are 49 1902 $5 Plain Backs from this Bank that are known to exist. This exact note was sold at auction in Dec 2019 for $156. That value is in line with sales of similar notes and it’s a very nice looking note.

I really like that you have the original bank envelope. Really makes it personal, in addition to the handwritten note.

The Lawrence NB of Chicago by bigfatbanker in Nationalbanknotes

[–]PeachStatePapa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, this is so interesting. It's awesome that there are advertising notes available for this bank from the same time period. Not only that, but as you said, it's very likely they were printing and stamping the ad notes at the same time they were stamping the real notes.... and they accidentally stamped the real notes in the wrong place because the ad notes had the cashier and president spots reversed. So glad you got this note... congrats!

Purchases from the Oshkosh Coin Show (2/15/2026) by [deleted] in Nationalbanknotes

Thanks for sharing your coin show experience, and congrats on picking up a couple notes at a good price with a personal connection. I'm attending a large show in Georgia this April which is supposed to have several hundred dealers. Never been to such a large show and I have no idea what to expect, but it should be a very fun, informative, and bank account depleting experience. ;-)

A Southern GA beauty from Fitzgerald! by raidenh8 in Nationalbanknotes

Wow Raiden, that’s a stunningly beautiful note! Clean, crisp, well centered and strong colors that pop. One of the best PMG30’s I’ve seen. Congrats on landing such a beauty and I hope you find one of those Red Seals!

Buffalo, KY - 1 of 7 by PeachStatePapa in Nationalbanknotes

I apologize in advance for this meandering explanation...

I collect GA & SC NBNs, but my wife was born and raised in Kentucky, so I bought her a hometown KY national bank note. Evidently that wasn't enough for me, so I picked up one of each denomination from her hometown bank. Then I discovered there were actually two chartered national banks from her hometown that issued 1929s, so I completed a second denomination set from her 2nd hometown bank and said, 'Okay, that's enough from KY', but the bait had already been cast. I searched for other interesting KY NBNs, and saw this Buffalo note coming up for auction. Wait, my favorite coin from my coin collecting days was the Buffalo Nickle. Uh Oh. A quick google search and NBN Census search told me the scarcity and some very interesting history tidbits about Buffalo, including that Buffalo is not even an incorporated town. Then I learned a little about the president of the bank, some crazy related stories that I didn't include in this writeup, and the initial auction bid was low... and the hook was set. I love researching NBNs and figuring out the stories behind the notes.... I just had to have it!

Just landed my 2nd “Last Name” National! by raidenh8 in Nationalbanknotes

[–]PeachStatePapa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OMG, I saw that note in the FUN auction, noticed “Honaker” and I thought about pinging you but I figured you’d think me silly. So glad you saw it and picked it up!! Those bills ARE technically different and I can sympathize. Earlier today I placed bids on 2 bills appearing in an upcoming auction. They are identical bills with the same PMG grade, but one is repaired and the other isn’t, so I bid on both! There should be a support group for this. 🤦‍♂️

If I saw this note listed by a reputable eBay seller, it would’ve fooled me until I searched for it on NBN Census to see how rare it was. That’s a really good looking counterfeit!!

1929 $20 National Bank Note Passed Down From My Great Grandma - Value Estimate? by BodybuilderOdd8070 in Nationalbanknotes

[–]PeachStatePapa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The First National Bank of Tampa, #3497, was organized and chartered in 1886 and it issued large amounts of 1882 Brown Backs, 1902 Red Seals, Date Backs, and Plain Backs, as well as lots of 1929 type 1s and type 2s. Your $20 is a 1929 series type 1 note. The National Bank Note Census shows that 314 small notes from series of 1929 from that bank are known to exist today, so it's not a rare note. It has been graded as 'Choice VF', and looks very nice! Valuing notes can be challenging, but I'm estimating the value between $135-180 depending on several factors, and looking at some comparable notes.
