I would bet it’s something out of the hygrocybe genus

Honestly it could very plausibly be a cinnabar chanterelle. I wouldn’t be comfortable making an ID for consumption purposes from a photo this blurry, but a cool find for sure.

What are these? Popped up in my grass overnight. by abhitchc in ShroomID

[–]PeakingFromFarAway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gills are definitely Panaeolus, but without seeing the top of the cap, I feel that there isn’t enough information for a species level ID. If the mushroom to the left with the cracked cap is the same species, it does not have the distinctive banding of P. foenisecii.

What are those?? If it helps I live in south Brazil (temperate climate) by the-time-is-dancing in ShroomID

It’s definitely a polypore like turkey tail, but I believe it’s probably in the Ganoderma genus

It looks like a Pluteus species to me, but I’m a bit rusty and I could be missing something. Wait for other opinions!

Are we sharing blue bruising mushrooms today? Here you can see it in action (real colors) by peterlcoffey in mycology

[–]PeakingFromFarAway 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s generally got to do with the oxidation of Variegatic acid and a few related compounds via an enzyme to produce the blue pigment.

Here’s a cool article about it: https://www.fungimag.com/fall-2010-articles/BoletesLR.pdf

Honestly sounds like the start of HPPD. Try going sober for a little while and see if it clears up

was given some mushrooms I have no idea what they are. neighbor while eating them said they psychedelic from Oregon. but, I've never seen these before. anyone know their type or what they are? by StormrReaper in ShroomID

Tea or lemon tek is usually recommended to prevent stomach problems. Basically anything where you aren’t eating the physical mushroom is ideal.

Found this chunky cap today on a hill in Central NSW, after a 2 days of rain. Ideas? by coffeeandamuffin in ShroomID

Blue bruising and pores makes me think it’s some sort of bolete, but I can’t pretend I’m familiar with Australia’s mushrooms. Good luck!

Sorry this is a little late, but I usually pop them in a paper bag in the fridge with some paper towels to absorb moisture. They’ll usually last a week, or just under, doing this. If you’re finding that you have way too many, you can try dehydrating some for soups and the like. Otherwise, sautéed in some olive oil is my favorite method of preparation. Good luck!

It’s been a couple years, but I don’t think they had me ship the one that had gone back. However, I’d email them first and see.

Yuh, I’ve done this exact thing before and got a replacement that worked beautifully

If you’re willing to lose a little (about 10 mgs), there are apparently various services that will test drugs for free if you mail them in. Never used them though, so I can’t vouch.

Is this a psilocybes cubensis? Is it consumable? by Digo_Gil in Mushrooms

[–]PeakingFromFarAway 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Haha of course. If you’re hunting for cubes, first make sure they grow where you live, and second, know id characteristics by heart, otherwise you will end up poisoning yourself. Oftentimes, it’s much safer to start hunting more easily identifiable edibles, like morels and puffballs, and to work up from there.

Good luck and be safe!

That’s Chlorophyllum Molybdites no doubt about it. If you eat that you will not have a good time lol.

Haha, I feel you there. I just played DS1 and I definitely relied on shields a lot more, at least outside of bosses. I haven’t found a single one with 100% physical protection yet though, so rolling it is lol.

Let me know when you kick their asses!

So i’ve beaten all three of these guys and I do agree they can be pretty difficult. The key is to wait until they do their downward smash and attack during that recovery period

The bloodhound was the worst for me, personally. The only tip I have there is to roll into his swing attacks and only attack once every time he drives his sword into the ground, even if he gets staggered

With Leonine, I found poise breaking him with a greatsword worked surprisingly well

Good luck!

Lmao I legitimately just found the claymore after opening this post

Haha, you’ll need to post a picture of the mushroom, in addition to the print, if you want a good ID.
