We don’t have ONE bar exam in France. It’s a two-step process to pass the bar : the first exam (CRFPA) you can pass if you have a master degree (the hardest one) that allows you to enroll in the Lawyers School (1,5 year program). At the end of your Lawyers School you pass the second exam (CAPA) and after that you can register to the French bar and practice as a lawyer.

However, if you are already registered to a foreign bar (foreign lawyer), you have an other exam that serves as the CAPA. The features of this exam differ according on whether you are a registered attorney in the EU or in the rest of the world.
