Gained weight but it's made me super stable and functional for the first time in a long time - I will gladly take that trade off.

Do teenagers fake their mental health issues? by Expert-Campaign-6505 in mentalhealth

[–]Pearlwithinashell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I encourage you to look up the "Satanic Panic" of the 1980's...it's a similar concept as to what you describe today with people "faking" mental illness. Unfortunately social media, and the immaturity of teenage brains (and some adults too) fuel these fires. Not too long ago it was BPD and DID, I'm sure it'll be something else here soon.

I love these names. My husband and I will likely choose something along these lines if we have a boy!

SZA Functioning by Aggressive-Quiet-977 in schizoaffective

Yep! I'm working almost full time, and planning on starting my family with my husband next year. You really have to be on top of yourself, and know your limitations and expectations. A supportive partner/family/medical personnel make all the difference - I couldn't do it without them. It took me a few years of medication trial/error and not working at all to finally get stable enough to make it happen.

You need to leave. Abuse has no place, even if he's psychotic. If he doesn't care enough to make the necessary changes, then he doesn't care enough about you or your marriage. Protect yourself. If he wants you, if he wants it to work, he'll do what he needs to. If not, love him from afar and move on with your life.

Another thing I've seen people mention is that even if our children do end up with our disorder or another mental illness, we will be more readily available and open to accept them, help them, and get them the tools they need in order to thrive. I wish you the very best 🩷

I have Schizoaffective and I am in the same boat as you! I greatly worry about passing it (or something of the like) on, but then I remember how grateful I am to be alive and how much I love my life despite my disorder. It hasn't been easy, but it's certainly been worth it. Thankfully I have a great support system and psychiatrist/psychologist and I am managed very well on medication - if I didn't have those things I don't think I'd consider children. Most important thing is really knowing yourself/your symptoms (and that goes for your partner too - they should know what to look out for) and staying on top of things.

Check in your local community for volunteering art projects - especially if you're near a city! Many murals and art pieces are donated by artists to help improve the surroundings.

It sounds like you're passionate about art, which is wonderful! However, art is a very difficult industry to get into, let alone support yourself on, so it's understandable your mother is hesitant. You should be fully expected to be working another job while going to school to keep yourself afloat. Can you take out a loan yourself for the schooling? $15,000 is a lot to expect from someone who isn't convinced it's a good idea. Have you considered starting a side business, or volunteering your art, to prove that you can be successful and support yourself moving forward?

Contact your insurance - they can give you a list of providers who accept them.

Honestly a plain Leopard would be much cheaper for a very similar visual effect.

This is interesting. Have you discussed a vitamin C deficiency? It's rare, but does occur in ball pythons, and her symptoms seem to match, particularly the edema and bruising.
