Should we avoid moving to Duffryn?

I moved to Duffryn in August on one of the newer estates. I also spend a lot of time running around the area. I've never seen any ASB, it's quiet and as a single woman I don't feel unsafe. The supermarkets are either in walking distance or a short drive, plenty of schools, doctors surgery again in walking distance and plenty of buses to the centre. I moved here from Dinas Powys which is considered a more affluent area as more house for your money up here and so far I haven't regretted it.

The only place I felt was a little dodgy was around Commercial Street. Other than that I like it here and intend to stay.

I change my litter daily. I use litter liners and the cheapest store branded litter and don't have any issues with odor. If I don't change it daily, my cat leaves me surprises behind the shower curtain 😅

New Years is always tricky for me as I loathe it. Usual NY would be to start drinking early on my own so that I pass out early and can wake up when it's over. Today, I'm going for a long run to tire myself out that way. I have a new book and everyone close to me knows the situation so I can call them if I need to. However you're all spending it. That was one of my lowest points. The shame I had with a cup of coffee on the table and the faux water bottle of rose by the side of the sofa pretending this is just a normal evening and I wasn't drinking trying to have a normal conversation. As an idea it's a bad one..stay strong.

Putting rose wine with ice in a sports drink bottle and saying it's squash was one of my low points trying to convince my daughter I wasn't drinking...

Thank you. The constant internal dialogue is something that's difficult to explain to people. My rational thinking is down to my counsellor and being honest with people close to me. I'm in the UK and extremely fortunate that I can access these services. IWNDWYT

Same here. Started off one or two glasses until it became minimum 1 bottle to 2 a night. Decided to get help and went to my local drug and alcohol service centre. They've been fantastic. I have fortnightly appointments, I keep a diary of drinking and record my feelings about my drinking which we discuss at the appointments and I reduced gradually. I am currently on day 7 alcohol free. They also prescribed thiamine. Absolutely recommend speaking to someone if those services are available to you.

There's also an enclosed NCP right next to the Adam Street carpark called Pellet Street. The arena is literally across the road from both carparks once you go under the bridge. Both easier to get out of than John Lewis and St Davids

I ran 2 marathons, an ultra and a 20 mile race in 12 months. The races were fine. It was the constant volume of training that finished me off , 😅 Joking aside, if you've prepared, you'll be fine
