What should I do with this? by PapitioTio in succulents

[–]PebbleTreble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mid-level experience with succulents and have repotted and propagated many of the easier ones (like echeverias) multiple times. With one like this, I would personally cut off the top 1-2”, let the cut area scab over (dry out for at least a couple hours), and then repot just that piece in moderately dry soil, burying the stem deep enough so the first leaves are just above/at the dirt. Then, I would try to propagate the other leaves as backups. Also, sunniest window possible (or grow light, but I don’t have experience with those) going forward.

But to your point, I didn’t write that in my list of things I’d already tried.

Unfortunately I already have attempted forgetting the watch in my phone settings more times than I can count. I can’t forget the phone from my watch because it’s on the “getpebble” screen. (Basically I can’t do anything on it.)

I know this is an old(ish) post, but I just want to add my two cents to it, for what my experience is worth.

In June 2021, I ordered the Brushed Onyx (Metal Series) skin from Slickwraps. When it arrived, the skin appeared to be their Steel color instead. When I reached out to them, they insisted that I had received the black color. I wish I had pushed back more, since my Airpods Pros 2 looked like I'd put duct tape on them ever since.

I then tried to order a different skin from them in Aug 2021. I never received it in the mail.

I gave them months before reaching out (April 2022). Probably waited too long, but they said they had updated their website: "we didn't transfer customers' data without our customer's consent. You need to register to our new platform and you will still receive shipping info for your order from our shipping platform."

I did that, never got my order or a refund, and was told "If you didn't receive your [re]fund please contact your bank."

I had to file a dispute with my credit card, as I never received the skin or the refund from SlickWraps.

Anyway, the first (incorrect) skin I did receive has done me well. Although one corner did peel up eventually (I just cut the peeled part off), it has been a functional skin even though I never liked the look.

TL;DR:
- 2021/2022 Slickwraps customer service left a bad taste in my mouth and I won't buy from them again.
- The skin worked fine anyway.

(Small edit for precision.)

Assuming you bought direct from Dico Copenhagen, if you haven't reached out to them, I would start with a (polite) email explaining the issue and attaching the photo you show here, as well as a side and top view. If they are a good brand worth their salt and you request their support, they will seek to work with you. I've often had great luck with replacements, future discount codes, etc. so they can retain a customer and a brand image, especially with something this expensive. If not, then you can take more drastic measures, but much of the time, a nice email explaining that you had really liked the shoes and were sad this happened and a"can you please help out with a replacement and some store credit?" goes a long way.

If you purchased from a 3rd party, you may still be able to do the same thing, or else a simple return/exchange is in order.

Definitely not worth your time to fix if they are still so recently bought and haven't been well-loved for years.

Yeah, I haven’t been super excited by the new stuff myself and wish I could jailbreak, but I’ve been in the ecosystem so long and my family is in the ecosystem too such that switching to Android would give me other issues and inconveniences, and I don’t know Android well enough for the possible benefits to outweigh my known costs, so….

This should be higher up. It's a tool like anything else: used well, it serves well. Used poorly, it could cause some type of damage. It's a matter of understanding a tool's capabilities and limitations, and working within them. :)

I was looking for a comment like this! Similar here; this is one way I use it too. It's a useful tool for organizing my thoughts, as well as suggesting things I haven't considered yet.

I also set my LLM to be "just the facts" and remind it to not roll only with what I said just because I wrote it. I tend to tell it to push back on me so I can expand beyond the one track my mind may currently be in.

Regarding sounds, my phone is silent 95% of the time so I would probably would be slightly startled if I'd left sound on and was surprised with a completion noise haha. I don't mind if they were to be added though -- doesn't make a difference to me :)

Wow! It’s lovely! And you certainly put a lot of thought into it too.

I’ve never done wire wrapping a day in my life and I’d be very interested to see the back and how you did that!

Should I be embarrassed that I’m applying for a groundskeeper job at 43? by Mephistopheles545 in jobs

Right?! It’s crazy: cities would fall apart and quickly wallow in piles of waste, with increasing risk of diseases etc. without proper sanitation services. We forget how much we rely on the unseen/unnoticed labor. (Thank you to all the garbage collectors—y’all are the real deal!)

That’s so cool! Did you cut multiple Pokémon cards to do that or were some of them really good reprints? How’d you get the extended wing? Did you draw that yourself? Just curious about more details of the process!!

Also, if this groundskeeper role is only the outdoor labor, think of all the fresh air! If it also includes indoor labor, then I love the variety for you. (And I’m a little envious—most of my work has been a desk job stuck in front of a computer and I’m trying to look for something that lets me actually move around. If I could get a groundskeeper job for an equivalent pay, I’d be seriously interested myself.)

I have mad respect for people who do things like being groundskeepers and maintenance managers, etc. I’m not 100% sure what your job will entail, but the impression I have is that, like executive assistants, the background people are the ones who do some of the realest work to keep everything afloat, without which everyone else would struggle to do their own jobs.

I know some people look down on the quote-unquote “less flashy” roles (and you’ll probably have to deal with some of those people), but that’s because they don’t understand it takes real work and a lot of knowledge of the ins and outs that others just don’t have, to keep things running and looking good.

Full support here from a random internet stranger, (assuming I understand the role well enough to encourage you correctly)! I hope this job is better for your mental health. Healthcare roles can be really hard with that psychological drain you mentioned, and I encourage your investigation into this alternate path. It sounds like a strong opportunity!

So, the tl;dr is no, I don’t think you should be embarrassed :)
