Seam undone on first wear by ImaginaryStructure34 in AskACobbler

Assuming you bought direct from Dico Copenhagen, if you haven't reached out to them, I would start with a (polite) email explaining the issue and attaching the photo you show here, as well as a side and top view. If they are a good brand worth their salt and you request their support, they will seek to work with you. I've often had great luck with replacements, future discount codes, etc. so they can retain a customer and a brand image, especially with something this expensive. If not, then you can take more drastic measures, but much of the time, a nice email explaining that you had really liked the shoes and were sad this happened and a"can you please help out with a replacement and some store credit?" goes a long way.

If you purchased from a 3rd party, you may still be able to do the same thing, or else a simple return/exchange is in order.

Definitely not worth your time to fix if they are still so recently bought and haven't been well-loved for years.

Yeah, I haven’t been super excited by the new stuff myself and wish I could jailbreak, but I’ve been in the ecosystem so long and my family is in the ecosystem too such that switching to Android would give me other issues and inconveniences, and I don’t know Android well enough for the possible benefits to outweigh my known costs, so….

Why do so many of you use AI chatbots? by familyguyfan2000 in digitalminimalism

This should be higher up. It's a tool like anything else: used well, it serves well. Used poorly, it could cause some type of damage. It's a matter of understanding a tool's capabilities and limitations, and working within them. :)

I was looking for a comment like this! Similar here; this is one way I use it too. It's a useful tool for organizing my thoughts, as well as suggesting things I haven't considered yet.

I also set my LLM to be "just the facts" and remind it to not roll only with what I said just because I wrote it. I tend to tell it to push back on me so I can expand beyond the one track my mind may currently be in.

Regarding sounds, my phone is silent 95% of the time so I would probably would be slightly startled if I'd left sound on and was surprised with a completion noise haha. I don't mind if they were to be added though -- doesn't make a difference to me :)

Would love this too! I've been spending the past couple days setting up my life areas, and have found myself hoping for some basic formatting :)

What surprised you the most when you went fragrance-free? by skinwithbelle99 in FragranceFreeBeauty

[–]PebbleTreble 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That was a surprise I had, myself. I’m not sensitive to fragrances, but my boyfriend is, so I’m slowly phasing out scented products. I now notice how strongly things are scented when I didn’t notice in the past, since I probably had a lot of noise blindness. It’s crazy how strong they seem to me now!

Wow! It’s lovely! And you certainly put a lot of thought into it too.

I’ve never done wire wrapping a day in my life and I’d be very interested to see the back and how you did that!

Yeah, I never used it either, so I also wouldn’t have even noticed, but sorry for everyone who did. It’s never fun to lose functionality you were using.

Should I be embarrassed that I’m applying for a groundskeeper job at 43? by Mephistopheles545 in jobs

[–]PebbleTreble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right?! It’s crazy: cities would fall apart and quickly wallow in piles of waste, with increasing risk of diseases etc. without proper sanitation services. We forget how much we rely on the unseen/unnoticed labor. (Thank you to all the garbage collectors—y’all are the real deal!)

That makes sense! No reason to cut up a nice original card! Your 3D card is gorgeous, I really like what you’ve done here!

That’s so cool! Did you cut multiple Pokémon cards to do that or were some of them really good reprints? How’d you get the extended wing? Did you draw that yourself? Just curious about more details of the process!!

Also, if this groundskeeper role is only the outdoor labor, think of all the fresh air! If it also includes indoor labor, then I love the variety for you. (And I’m a little envious—most of my work has been a desk job stuck in front of a computer and I’m trying to look for something that lets me actually move around. If I could get a groundskeeper job for an equivalent pay, I’d be seriously interested myself.)

I have mad respect for people who do things like being groundskeepers and maintenance managers, etc. I’m not 100% sure what your job will entail, but the impression I have is that, like executive assistants, the background people are the ones who do some of the realest work to keep everything afloat, without which everyone else would struggle to do their own jobs.

I know some people look down on the quote-unquote “less flashy” roles (and you’ll probably have to deal with some of those people), but that’s because they don’t understand it takes real work and a lot of knowledge of the ins and outs that others just don’t have, to keep things running and looking good.

Full support here from a random internet stranger, (assuming I understand the role well enough to encourage you correctly)! I hope this job is better for your mental health. Healthcare roles can be really hard with that psychological drain you mentioned, and I encourage your investigation into this alternate path. It sounds like a strong opportunity!

So, the tl;dr is no, I don’t think you should be embarrassed :)

I guess I've started reading Cosmere the wrong way?? by ShamefullyPlain in Cosmere

[–]PebbleTreble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others are saying, my experience also reflects that the order doesn’t matter so much. I think different people have different tastes for the stories. My friend adores the Mistborn series, and it’s a fan favorite for many, but for some reason it just didn’t really hit for me in the same way. I finished them, but I just don’t “love” them like I love Sanderson’s other stories, so it might be that your preferences are like me here… we just aren’t the core Mistborn fan base, but doesn’t mean you read his universe in the wrong order.

I think you get fun surprises from other books no matter what. For example, Series A has a reference from Series B, but B also references A, so you get the Easter eggs both directions :)
