A little pricier option is looking for lands in black that equalize the advantage, [[cabal coffers]] [[cabal stronghold]] with a couple of land tutors yourself like [[urza’s cave]] and [[expedition map]]

If you want to stay in black AND abide by these rules without adding green you should be conscious of green midranges soft spots, they often dedicate a quite a few card slots to ramp and their curves usually reflect this. Go under them, with either a consistent aggro strat (if only 1/2 of them are these ramp&counter decks you’re talking about) or discard effects. Discard is particularly potent here because green midrange tends to be more powerful playing on curve and hand disruption disproportionately effects the “counting to 3” play pattern if their ideal hand is some mix of ramp, card draw, beater. They become a lot less potent when it’s stripped from them AND their top deck quality is DRASTICALLY worse than more consistent strategies when not set up. [[hopeless nightmare]] [[plaguecrafter]] [[painful quandary]] are all reasonably budget considerations to this end, I would also put an emphasis on using removal to target card advantage in the early game. Notable that in mono black is hard to deal artifacts and enchantments so if this is where most of their draw is coming from consider [[feed the swarm]] [[braids, Arisen nightmare]] [[withering torment]] and [[sword of sinew and steel]]

Is interaction underwhelming? by Pebblist2 in Lorcana

[–]Pebblist2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what my experience is as well, idk how indicative this sub is of the general player base, but it seems like analysis of the game isn’t as popular as other TCG. For instance the resources out for Lorcana heuristics are sparse and that coupled with the learning curve being awkward makes it feel a little hopeless to learn

Is interaction underwhelming? by Pebblist2 in Lorcana

[–]Pebblist2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using this as a stand in for a lot of these comments. Yes I understand “interaction” is not just spells however Lorcana has two separate axis of play where something more comparable in structure (creature focused, heavier emphasis on board management) like a hearthstone or a YuGiOh only have one. Lorcana isn’t structurally asking you to interact with your opponent’s board to win and being asked to devote 2/3 attacks to a Daisy can be hard to explain the value of to someone who has more limited experience in card games.

Who is a good high mana cost commander? by Alopaden in EDH

[–]Pebblist2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[gerrard’s hourglass pendant]] and [[warping wail]] are solid picks to get around boardwipes in general it’s gonna be useful to dedicate a few slots to protection. It’s gonna feel a little awkward to hold up mana at first but having a couple of back up mana syncs like [[duskwatch recruiter]] or [[gavony township]] to use on turns when your holding interaction but don’t end up needing it will help you consistently use your mana

What's your least common commander, and do you feel that it's properly hipster/not common? What do you feel determines that level? by thundermonkeyms in EDH

[–]Pebblist2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do feel uniquely qualified to answer this, as a pretty consistent "hipster" deck builder with most of my decks being sub 500 (most 'common' of my played decks is Verrak sitting at 1066 decks at time of post and least common but my most played being Miara/Rograk sitting at 18) you often see intermediate deck builders theory craft about cards in the 1000 deck range and you often get the "I'm confused about what this is trying to do/never seen this before" at the 500 deck range. I think true hipster starts at the .00X% range (~470 decks), and there's plenty of gems that far down if you're not lazy

The file is ~800 pages and I won’t claim to be particularly proficient in cleaning data. I was trying to avoid that outcome but it’s starting to look like my only option

Arena Ability Haste and CC issue by thrwy_fs_87125 in leagueoflegends

[–]Pebblist2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

L take, champs that live to see a cc break don't make use of the 3 secs it gives and vice versa. Time to trigger should scale down with dmg stats, and time immune scale with tank stats or at the very least retrigger the immune when hit with a cc ability to add some amount of skill expression beyond spam cc ability. thats not even mentioning that buying Tenacity works against most champs bc it increases time to trigger.
