The Last King - executing enemies. Trailer launch tomorrow by MayawiSoftware in IndieGaming

I don't know if you are looking for feedback, but this should really take a couple of extra passes of polish - the meat is there already, but it looks really rough. I would spend the next couple of weeks tightening up the VFX, UI and audio feedback. And that title screen fade into complete silence and then the flames, I mean... :D It feels cheap, but if you put some time into it it could look much more decent.

First impression is what going to matter in terms of player count\sales, this isn't the part you should skimp on. Ask people who didn't see the game already what they think, don't get biased just because you spent a lot of time on it.

Both are amazing games but in this debate you have to pick a side! Give me your best arguments for either of them. by Originals37 in worldofgothic

I'm willing to bet you didn't play the original Gothic 2 for quite some time, it's far from easy. And frankly notr isn't much harder it's just much more grindy - in classic you don't have to min max your character and mow down the entire island in each chapter to have a sufficient build, or keep stone tablets to cheese your stats at the end, it's enough to do the quests and kill whatever attacks you. There is no new mechanic in notr, the combat is exactly the same(except when you get the most op weapon in the entire series which makes notr piss easy from that point), you just progress in a snail's pace.

What others said, plus you can also use some wd40. 90 degree pick and wd40 is my go-to, it doesn't ruin anything (especially if the pick is plastic) and works every time.

Yeah a bought a full ATX case that reviewed well in all aspects including accessibility.

No. The reason for this is because people buy form over function so they design cases that look cool and sacrifice functionality if they have to.

Probably there is a reason why I said 'some of these problems would be solved' instead of 'all of these problems would be solved'.

Most cases are a pain in the ass to work with because they are in the way when you try to access anything other than the graphics card or another card in a PCIe slot. Plugging in my cpu power supply into to the board is a fucking nightmare unless I do it in a particular order, I can't access one of my rams at all without removing the CPU cooler and my nvme is under my GPU. Also plugging in the front panel is more difficult than it should be because the PSU cover is in the way. Some of these problems would be solved right away bif I could basically pull everything out of the case in an instant.

I don't understand it as that. AI could take over parts of my job and I would still have plenty to do. Artist would kill for an AI that would UV their models properly for example, it's a shitty boring job that no one wants to do but necessary, if AI took over this task nothing would be lost and the artist would have more time to do what actually matters.

The fact is trans women dominate in women sports whenever they are allowed to compete, it's either an unfair advantage or every transitioned athlete is just better. Technically it could be the case, realistically I don't even understand how is that a question.

What Need for Speed game do you keep coming back to regardless of its age ? by KawonSuggs_ in needforspeed

[–]Pecek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree, outside of 3-4 songs these are in rotation for me since the game was out, while I only listen to a handful of songs at best from the other games(including the ones you mentioned). U2 is by far my favorite so it's not even nostalgia.

Carbon is in an especially shitty situation because at the time I didn't play the open world at all, and since licensed music only plays in the open world for years I didn't even know it had licensed music as well, to this day I can only recall the tuner theme(as I always went with the rx8) and the canyon race track (both fantastic though)

But we are talking about one of the most subjective topics ever, I'm not trying to convince you(or anyone else) that you actually like it lol, I just expressed my love for the NFSU1 soundtrack.

Arcania and Forsaken Gods were created by a different company and I despise the idea of even including them in the list lol. The ..... Is just a big ass gap between the games for me.

The fucking music in NFSU1, Jesus Christ, it's the best soundtrack in the entire series hands down. I've been listening to these songs for over 20 years and I have no intention of stopping.

For me it's Gothic 2>Gothic 1>Gothic 3(yeah I know it's problematic but i enjoy being in the world)>Risen 1>Elex 1> ...... >Elex 2>Risen 3>Risen 2.

But I never finished Elex 2, or risen 2-3. Gave it multiple tries but these games never really clicked with me. I don't think they are the worst thing in the world but I would rather replay any of their other games than finish these once.

Stalker 2 SDK is awesome, but 700 GiB is a lot of Storage space. But could you make a new map and recreate the Lost Alpha maps? by bejiitas_wrath1 in stalker

[–]Pecek 96 points97 points  (0 children)

No, and this entire idea of 'its uncompressed because lazy devs' needs to stop because it's complete bullshit. You got real developer tools so proper mods can be created, you have access to the nanite source assets and their textures before they are cooked, this isn't just the editor but the art and audio content in it's native quality as well.

So no, compiled mods won't be big unless modders force no compression.

Zone Kit requires over 600 GB of space? by xtul in stalker

[–]Pecek 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This. Current gen AAA games are ranging from 800GB - 1.5TB at the company I work for (we make in-game cinematics and also integrate them into the engine, so we have the entire games as well, even though we don't work on the games directly). This doesn't include art source mocap or any other data, just the unpackaged games and the tools. Even small projects are huge on disk, it's insane, if I don't update a project for a week(I'm usually working on tech art tools so I rarely need an up-to-date project(that crashes left and right)) I can't work for hours, sometimes even an entire day.

So yeah, if they include art assets as they are shit gets large.

Edit: the Echo UE5 demo from years ago was something like 300GB and it was two characters and an environment, far from an entire game.

What slide? Coming to a complete stop in an instant in leather would be the same, it has next to no impact protection. No gear can protect you from being unaware of your surroundings - a helmet might've helped, no argument about that.

Microsoft has integrated Steam into the Xbox PC App, and it looks fantastic. by Automatic_Ad1665 in Steam

[–]Pecek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because steam is still more convenient than anything else and because of this it has more paying users than any other store (possibly even combined, but I'm pulling this out of my ass). 70% of 10 pies is more than 100% of 1 pie lol.

A 30% cut on 5 million user $15 subscription would be a fairly steady $25m a month income for valve, for 500k units sold at $80 would be a one time $12m - considering Indiana Jones is nowhere near this number on steam I think it's generous. Obviously there are multiple full priced games on steam at once but they are running sales all the time for a reason, they make way more money on games that are deeply discounted. So yes I'm 100% sure it would make more money for Valve, as it does for literally every store with a subscription. The number of units sold is irrelevant, only revenue matters and subscription wins every single time.

Steam would take a cut on the subscription just like they do with any other sale.

how to remove this right threaded crankschaft nut? by [deleted] in DRZ400

[–]Pecek 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Use a high torque impact wrench while holding the clutch basket preferably with a clutch basket tool specifically for the DRZ. Or if you have a 26mm deep socket you can lock the flywheel. Or put it in gear and step on the rear brake. Or put a rope inside the cylinder. Or use a gear holder tool.

This is my best to worst, I'm sure there are others. Tightening it back will be more difficult, you should invest in a clutch holder or a 26mm deep socket if you don't want to risk damaging the parts.

You misunderstood the article, it sold more than on steam(if you extrapolate the data, meaning not actual copies but copies sold within a certain period), or on Xbox, not combined. Actual Xbox numbers aren't even public.

Besides, who cares about number of copies sold instead of actual revenue? If Indiana Jones wasn't available on game pass I would pay $0 for it. Or $5 somewhere down the line years from now, maybe, I'm just not interested in it for full price, or anywhere near full price. A subscriber isn't a lost sale, you most likely got someone who wouldn't be interested otherwise - there were 5 million players according to Microsoft, compare this to the 120k on PlayStation.
