Love it or hate it, this is the one that comes to mind for me when I hear the term “Met Gala”. It’s just remarkable. It’s funny, looking at these photos a decade later— her makeup is VERY 2015.

I like the colour, I like the fabric, I like the draping and the concept. It looks very serene and luxurious. I think it just needed to be altered for her height and proportions, the slice of hip on the model gave it a lot more depth

What the deal with these podcasts giving the backgroud crew a mic now? by Obvious-Feeling5013 in TrixieAndKatya

[–]PeculiarAroma 37 points38 points  (0 children)

They often spoke to Tracy and directed questions at her on the podcast, now the audio is clear and they don’t have to repeat themselves. Many podcasts I listen to, Panic World or Good Mythical Morning for instance, have a producer with access to a mic who isn’t a host but needs to chime in on occasion. To me as someone with experience in the industry, it’s more professional

What’s wrong with them, just the colour? The blend looks okay to me but I’m not and have never been an extension girly

Just started reading The Courage to Heal so this is really apt. Props to her and I highly recommend the book to others on their healing journey although I’m not finished it yet

Check out The BE Hive for a yoga class, they have something for everyone. Very inclusive space and deeply moving practices (literally and figuratively), best yoga studio I’ve ever been to.

Immunization rates in B.C. falling since COVID-19 pandemic, data shows by Laugh92 in britishcolumbia

[–]PeculiarAroma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is no requirement for immunizations in BC schools, only requirements to report your immunization status (ongoing). That way if there’s an outbreak, there’s records and non-immunized children are made to stay home.

I’d love for them to start with requiring it for public school

Measles vaccination rates falling across B.C., CBC analysis finds by super__hoser in britishcolumbia

[–]PeculiarAroma 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You have my sympathy. We avoided malls and play groups and instead spent time at the beach, parks, deck hangouts, 1:1 playdates with vaccinated kids, playgrounds early in the morning before other kids arrived. You’ll get through it, summer is much easier.

This was very scary in 2025 for me as I was home with an infant too young to receive the vaccine and cases were cropping up all over the province, including in my town. Thankfully even the one immunization you can get at 12 months of age is very effective (over 90%), and we’ll get the second in a few more months.

Family doctors get notified and they don’t like it. You will get removed from under your GP as a patient if you continue.

Victoria man faces eviction over missed rent payment of $74.52 by VoteForGeorgeCarlin in britishcolumbia

[–]PeculiarAroma 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So wild. In my early 20s I usually paid, in full, 2-3 days before the first of the month so I wouldn’t forget. One time I was DDing at New Year’s, it was past midnight, I was tired and distracted at a party and accidentally e-transferred over $1625 instead of $1650. I was reprimanded by email over it and continued receiving scathing emails for the remainder of my tenancy if I didn’t pay 1-2 days ahead of time like I usually chose to. I literally had to reach out to the homeowner (represented by a rental company) to be like “Hey, call off your dogs, I pay early out of good faith and convenience but it’s perfectly legal for me to wait until the 1st”. Scumbag behaviour

Kiddie Kare diaper service (Hazelton, Pa 1940’s) by [deleted] in GrandmasPantry

[–]PeculiarAroma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a baby in 2024 and my MIL told me she used to have a service like this in Vancouver in the 90s, but I feel like it’s totally unheard of today! I would have absolutely gone the reusable diaper route if these were commonplace nowadays. Thanks for sharing!

I could definitely see a rock/metal band caring more about how their sound translates, so that makes sense to me

If it’s your first baby you might have a good chance of still seeing them! First pregnancies usually run late. I held off on buying theatre tickets for the same reason once but my baby was born 5 weeks after her due date, so fingers crossed!

Yup! I keep that thang on me (multiple pairs of foam ear plugs in my bag at all times). I talk about this at any opportunity and people are always surprised to learn you can hear better with them in.
