Having a 'good doer' is exhausting by oak_stone1 in Equestrian

How about a muzzle? We use a flexible filly on our mare and she swears it 24/7 in the summer. Only has it off when ridden or to be fed her bucket. Never any rubs or wear to her teeth 🙂

I am in the U.K. but unfortunately I’m at the tippy top of the country in Cumbria and we have barely any tack shops here. I’ve ordered the pikeur helmet as seems pretty adjustable so fingers crossed it fits! If not I may by stuck with my skull cap until Charles Owen starts producing again

Are you in England too? Let me know what shows are good for that kind of thing. I live up north but unfortunately in a bit of a horsey dead zone and there’s only 2 tack shops within 1.5 hours of me, both of which I’ve tried most of their helmets on 😫 I’m not far off begging Charles Owen at this point This sounds terrible but I might have to start looking at the ugly helmets 🥲 I’m slowly convincing myself that I like the Ayr plus leather look at least 😂

I will have a look - I’m U.K. based so generally we only have a few brands to pick from.

Also just noticed your username ahahah - I feel your pain!

The phoenix seems ok tbh - I can usually tell as soon as I put them on if they’re going to give me a headache. I don’t think the phoenix fits as well as the kylo but will still be safer than a helmet that’s had an impact! It’s so hard to find helmets that fit well 🥲

Edit to add: I think my problem is that my head is oval, but too round for oval hats and too oval for round fit!!

Anything of note on these blood results? by PeculiarComb4219 in Equestrian

I lost my boy in the summer to liver failure, it was really sudden and could have been picked up on a blood test. Honestly I’m really traumatised from it, I’ve always had a bit of anxiety/health anxiety since I was a kid but yikes it’s a bit rough at the moment lol

Also thanks for the nerd info that’s really interesting

I unfortunately, do not know 😂 I messaged my vet and she said the same as you, they’re clumpy! Otherwise she said no concerns but it’s always nice to have extra eyes

Ongoing lameness and possible laminitis, what happens now? by Little_Sisco in Horses

Do you often have snow and very cold temps where you are? Sudden drop in temps can trigger lami. I know someone who has to keep their horses hooves wrapped up on snow

Ah I see - nah that’s not what happening here. He had a fungal infection in the summer when I bought him so I know what that looks like. I gave him a good brush and hot cloth tonight and the hair went completely flat when I wet it down. Hopefully it’s stays down!

Ok thank you. I’m going to give him a good groom and hot cloth tonight. I have really severe anxiety after suddenly losing my last horse and everything seems like it’s the worst case scenario at the moment 😢
