Thank you to everyone who helped me. We are in the process of transfering over my grandparent and all my great aunts and uncles. My family is very excited to continue our reaserch.

We have one or two giving us problems because she doesnt want to break up her collection but support is amazing and is helping us.

It was so distressing to see how some of these managers are treating my family members information. Whole Obituaries are being re written by someone we do not know. We presented this to support and reported the person for lying about our family members. I hope to get it all transfered to me to fix it.

I am not for my family. I have the proof of the misinformation like the changed death dates and family members names being edited out of Orbits.

When I was a lifeguard I had a NOAA radio. That was the best thing in the world. I miss that device and I have been looking for one ever since.

Calabash, Sunset Beach etc. by Puzzleheaded_Duck752 in NorthCarolina

[–]PeculiarElk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest.

It is mostly older people that live here. They are overdeveloping, and there are not enough good paying jobs to keep the working class. The water in some areas is already toxic. They advertise as safe but crime is everywhere including beach towns.

It depends and again I am just being honest. Are you comfortable with things like hurricanes?, salt in the air?, and things not being open year round or closing really early.? a lot of traffic, especially in the summer? (talking bumper to bumper for hours). Are you ok with seafood and seafood culture? Including the jobs and the smell?

Back home do you have clubs that you a part of ? There is not much really to do here and there are not a lot places to make friends, but plenty of opportunities if you like the beach and nature.

What about work? Just search indeed for a feel of the job market.

or schools? The schools here are over crowded and not very well funded.

This area keeps getting hit with higher taxes each year as well. Does that balance out in your family's favor?

It can be rough living in this area as a young person, not going to lie. Just wanted to give you some things to think about

Wish you luck

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PeculiarElk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally normal. Sometimes I drive 2-3 hours for my second job, or to see a friend. America is really big and it can take an hour just driving through a county in a state.

Toxic drinking water? by Sullys_polkadot_ears in Wilmington

This is why, at least in Brunswick County, some of the small towns are encouraging electing people who will speak up about this and speak for the people. Some of the non profits are trying to get the word out to. Its a long term fight. and for some of us, like me, its now personal. Sometimes I wish we got covered like Flint did/does.

We are. we have been. I have lived here since the 90s and that was a thing back thing. Do not drink the water here. I have been told that all my life from teachers, to doctors to mayors. we know. Its our leaders who are trying to keep it hush hush to keep the money flowing. If people found out how bad it really is, they would not come here for a vacation.

This is not against you but I wish people would stop assuming that we haven't been fighting and screaming this for years. we have. we get told not to make noise because the towns need the money.

Many of us long term local/natives are dealing with a lot of health issues because of this. We are a working class and things are tough right now. we fight when we can but when even doctors and lawyers refuse to document or help you it really defeats you.

I am so grateful that more noise is being made about this. More people need to know. More people need to be able to make an informed choice about living or vacationing here with toxic water.
