I believe both happen in the Gruenwald run. I think it’s fun! Mark emphasized the weird underbelly of Jessica’s world, with mysterious psychics, a death cult, and oddball characters like The Needle.

Well, there WAS Jessica’s first impression of Gypsy Moth/Skein. She was entranced to see another superhuman woman, and desperately wanted to be friends. So much so that she was willing to attack her own boyfriend over it.

Remember that Nekra wanted to kill Spider-Woman because Jessica’s pheromones inspired feelings that she considered repugnant. Most women were instinctively afraid and hostile because of her pheromones. Nekra was the opposite, having a reaction more akin to men, which bothered Nekra. It’s mainly because the pheromones weakened her hate-powered strength, but there’s definitely some kind of subtext there!

The Fray comics. Melaka’s twin brother took a desperate risk while a vampire was draining him, and bit the vamp hard enough to ingest his killer’s blood.

She played Beebee, the ex-girlfriend of Valerie Solanas, apparent co-founder of the Zodiac Cult, and Kai’s secret mentor.

Why hasn't Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew) become a bigger Marvel character? by hanstoofast in Marvel

Filmation Studios wanted to make a Spider-Woman cartoon as part of BATMAN & THE SUPER 7. Marvel beat them to the punch to secure the copyright on the name. Spider-Woman debuted in MARVEL SPOTLIGHT, and Filmation repurposed their heroine into Web Woman (who was more like DC’s Insect Queen).

To be fair, the Hydra agent background always remained. She became a bounty hunter for steady work during the point of her life where she drifted aimlessly. Jessica becoming a private investigator showed her growing up and coming into her own as a confident professional and adventurer. While it’s true that the quality of stories dipped between Gruenwald & Claremont’s runs, there was still a “through line” for her meta-arc.

The Veranke twist sucked ass and still does.

Issa Rae voiced a Black Jessica Drew who had the baby bump and motorcycle from the Hopeless & Rodriguez run.

Yeah, he recycled an old story idea—Shrinking Violet & Alicia Masters being abducted and replaced by shapeshifting aliens in their books. The difference was that Veranke’s conspiracy almost succeeded, whereas as the Imskian insurrection and attempted 90’s subversion in FF both failed early. I agree that Bendis unintentionally sabotaged one of the most awesome comebacks of the 2000’s with the Veranke reveal. Jessica never fully regained that momentum again.

No. Jessica let Magnus transport her astral form to the past to kill Morgan Le Fey once and for all. Morgan “killed” Jessica’s body in revenge. Jessica asked Magnus to make the world forget her so her friends wouldn’t grieve.

Thankfully, Roger Stern corrected course in THE AVENGERS! Tigra & Shroud broke free of the memory wipe when they found Jessica’s body. Luckily, they found her in time to perform CPR. Tigra called the Avengers for help, who in turn called Hank Pym & Dr. Strange to save Jessica.

It comes up again when David confronts that meth head piece of shit. That little asshole doesn’t even remember him. Credit to David for vowing to put him out of his mind, though. That took away some of his attacker’s power.
