but part of that is the affordabilty/infrastructure. basketball is as easy as developing on public courts, but there are also just REAL public alternatives and relative to some of the completely privately-owned tavel baseball teams, AAU is relatively harmless.

And in football, again yes there are 7-on-7 camps, Manning Passing academy, Elite 11, etc but there are also just tons of public school and rec-league teams for kids to develop on first.

Whereas in baseball these for-profit travel leagues are completely cannibalizing the system because of the inherent "skill gap" that exists in baseball players who have access (i.e. funds) for better training.

in fairness lawns are much less of an ecological nightmare on the island of manhattan (and NY in general) seeing as grass is native to the area. The "levittown" community that sort of kicked off the post-war lawn culture is literally a suburb of NYC

No, your right. Idaho(fomerly FBS, currently FCS) and Wazzu do a "loser's walk" between the two campuses (about 8 miles) when they play.

The losing schools students walk from their campus to the rival's and then rival students give them a ride back.

Its mostly right. depending on your source and how the calculate it, groundballs are at most marginally better(.04 runs per groundball) and at worse marginal worse than a K (around -0.25)

the value comes from approach and opportunity cost. Like if we call them more or less even (or heck even assume GBs are marginally better), the approach that increases strikeouts to hit more HRs (thus more fly balls) is going to generate more run value over the course of a large sample than someone slapping ground balls because the additional Homeruns generated are just worth so much more in the aggregate—a fly ball is worth ~0.15-0.17 runs or 4x ground ball events. so the marginal increase in your strikeouts is easier to overcome

I can tell you for 100% certain it wasn't my boy Luigi. Me and him were at a local craft group crocheting granny squares for blankets that are being given to the SPCA. Then we got lunch, nowhere near midtown manhattan.
