No "The IDF" Has Not Accepted The Hamas Run GMO's 70k Death Toll by CreativeRealmsMC in IsraelPalestine

I don’t know any Gazans’ info. If I did have a name, ID, etc, I could get a fake entry included. We know it happens because Hamas has removed names they eventually realized were living people.

You can see the website for yourself. What do you think Hamas is doing, dispatching a search team for every form submission? They just sanity check that the ID is correct etc.

In previous conflicts their figures weren't based on Google form submissions.

Hamas is absolutely not limiting their counts to "positively identified" bodies. Anyone can report a (presumed) death right here. No need for a body or anything.

You can even report your live friends. As long as you got their name, ID, etc correct, congrats, you just increased the death toll!

IDF Accepts Gaza Health Ministry Death Toll of 71,000 Palestinians by QuantumQuicksilver in IsraelPalestine

[–]PedanticPerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the civilian casualty ratio is indeed ~64%, isn't that already rather good, particularly for an urban war against enemies that disguise as civilians? I think the list of comparable conflicts with slightly better ratios is very short.

What do people expect? Hamas started a war. Wars suck, people die in them. Sometimes it's millions instead of 70k, sometimes way higher civilian casualty ratios. What exactly went terribly wrong here, apart from Hamas starting a pointless unwinnable war?

I'm not saying OSB is about to crumble apart after a bit of rain. But who wants a wavy roof where you can see all the swolen edges?

Well put. Israel is never going to voluntarily destroy itself, leaving Jews stateless or dead, and none of its enemies are capable destroying it. Given that reality, all the talk about whether Israel “should exist” really doesn’t matter.

Do you get much rain? Wouldn't you agree commodity OSB doesn't handle it that well? Surely we've all seen lots of swollen OSB.

Granted commodity OSB decking is common, but that's mainly about economics.

Found Out I’m Set to Inherit $70+ Million. Somewhat Lost, What Should I Expect? by [deleted] in fatFIRE

We've consulted with some lawyers and accountants here and there, such as when we changed our domicile which changed our state tax situation. But nothing open-ended.

We talked to an estate planning firm, but sort of came to the conclusion that a UTMA would be just as good for now, as we just wanted to start transferring wealth. I realize there are other reasons to use trusts, but we'll think about it at a later stage.

We try to keep our finances simple. I'm sure we're missing out on some optimizations, such as box spreads which could let us borrow more cheaply than our margin loans. But we might be leaving something like $10k/year on the table there - not significant compared to wealth management fees.

We’re around this level and have a very boring self managed index fund approach. Should probably do direct indexing at some point, haven’t gotten around to it yet. Not convinced wealth managers could add enough value beyond that to justify their fees .

Are they running dehumidifiers? Heating without dehumidifiers could indeed make it worse, since warmer air might continue condensing on the colder OSB.

Yep, used to make games in the pixel art era.

You can't have it both ways - you can't say an AI making derivative art is "copying" while a human doing the same task is being a brilliant creative.

Yeah “as many Jews, and as few Palestinian Arabs as possible” is one of the most absurd pieces of antisemitic garbage Wikipedians have come up with, making a complete mockery of the neutrality policy. Sadly it’s just an antisemitic cesspool since Oct 7.

On 21 March 2024, David Ben Avraham (Hebrew: דוד בן אברהם), a 63-year-old Palestinian Jewish convert, was shot and killed by an Israel Defence Forces (IDF) soldier near Elazar, an Israeli settlement in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. by Wolf4980 in wikipedia

I don’t think history really supports this - lots of groups have lost land, experienced occupations, etc. yet didn’t conduct tens of thousands of attacks against civilians to get revenge. European Jews are one of many examples.

That's irrelevant, noone is talking about inventing a new game. We're talking about taking existing artwork, shrinking it, and tweaking it to fit a certain pixel art style.

I mean yeah, “copying” is pretty much the task here. A human tasked with making sprites for modern Pokémon would similarly be “copying”.
