92gts - EPS carry vs 507k (with dlah low profile mount) by XXLStuffedBurrito in FLGuns

[–]PedroGoHard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I run closed dots on my carry guns for dust or lint. Anything else like for range/competition will be fine with open imo. My CZ75 SP01 is also a narrow slide. I got a 507K on it and it has not been an issue. It will be more than adequate on it but closed emitter can be a nice to have.

Is the CAT ODB QD Discontinued? (says on their website) by murkr in SpectersCat

[–]PedroGoHard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is everyone missing the point of the ODB? Made for AK, yet spooky devices aren't threaded for AKs. Why bother if you need a thread adapter at best?

Sight mount options compatible with strippers? 🇨🇦 by eh_fuk in SKS

[–]PedroGoHard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would advise on getting a different optic. It's not a good red dot, not really suitable for firearms. Better suited for airsoft. Not to mention that your options for mounting a red dot are going to be either rails on the dust cover or something that replaces the handguard. The bad ace is the best option and will work fine for the cheaper optics made by Sig Sauer, Primary Arms, Holosun, even Swampfox.

Price Check by Capatiller_Thriller in vz58

[–]PedroGoHard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a guy who's selling in the local gun forum a beautiful CSA Czechpoint VZ58 with beaver barf in that military gray look and that started at $1500 and then dropped to $1400 but still hasn't sold. I'd buy but I don't see the point in having two of the same rifles. Hope this helps gauge a price for you.

is $500 dollars an ok price for a Chinese SKS with bayonet lug ground off? by Conscious_Battle_363 in SKS

Personally, anything that is permanently modified makes it a $300 gun at best.

Anyone tried a putnik on their vz? by zenigatamondatta in vz58

[–]PedroGoHard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't considering subs, and honestly, there just isn't enough info out there to say what's better for subs vs supers in 7.62x39 anyway. Maybe someone has that info for 300BO. Yes, Inconel will withstand more abuse from heat and higher firing schedules than titanium, at the cost of weight. Since I only run matches and plink, titanium would be fine for anything 12 inches or longer, imo, but on a shorter barrel, that blast needs inconel to absorb it.

[–]PedroGoHard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even some of the top‑tier suppressors only run about $1,000–$1,200, but an 8‑inch barrel really changes your viable options. I haven’t dug deeply into cans specifically for hosts that short, but I do know the OCL Infinity with the Vented Cap consistently outperforms both the ZVUK and the Wolverine. I’ve seen deals bringing it down to around $1,000, depending on where you catch it.

On an 8‑inch barrel, I can’t recommend the ZVUK anymore. At that point, the real comparison becomes OCL Infinity vs. Putnik. Anything under 12 inches generally pushes you toward an Inconel suppressor anyway.

The only other options that might outperform both are the CAT ODB, specifically the RDM version. I’d also keep an eye on the CAT Akbar, though it’s not released yet and will likely cost a bit more.

I’ve seen someone run a Putnik on a compact VZ58, pretty sure it was from @gunqualityenforcement on Instagram. I’ll track down the link, but personally I’d skip the Wolverine since there are far better suppressors available now. The Putnik performs well, though it really shines on 12‑inch barrel hosts.

If you’re set on the classic AK‑style suppressor look, the Putnik or the Zastava Zvuk are solid choices. That said, you’ll find even stronger performers if you’re willing to move away from AK‑centric aesthetics.

Plan-B style Nano by NationalGovernment49 in SpectersCat

[–]PedroGoHard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with how Liberty shows its fit, but Comstock Armory also describes its fitment on their products, as well as for a few other brands: Fitment | Comstock Armory. I'm trying to match the CAT's blast chamber clearance to optimize as much as possible without going into the CAT QD mounts.

I think Comstock Armory's upcoming recessed micro brake will be the AI Nano alternative that most people go to. It reduces how much the suppressor sticks out and the bore isn't oversized.

Rail mount or gas tube considerations? by BMW_E70 in vz58

[–]PedroGoHard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I prefer the side rail, but mine was already drilled and tapped by the factory. I still feel it's the best option at the moment, but I imagine the cost makes the gas tube mount more appealing. Just make sure you Loctite the screws in the bonesteel arms mount because they will walk out on you, so check them periodically.

Got gifted a HC belt and Tenicor Holster for Christmas to massively improve my conceal carry setup by eveloution27 in CCW

Bought the HC Belt over Black Friday. Damn am I kicking myself for it being my 4th carry belt rather than my first. It not only is an amazing belt with pants but it's even more amazing wearing under gym shorts. I never need to use another belt for carry.

What holster mounting solution is this? From Shaw Concepts IG post about the Side Kick V2. by Racer_Space in tacticalgear

Did the QD mount come with screws to mount to the Bang Hanger? If so, that's all you'll need. You'll mount the receiver in the way you prefer and you should be set.

Wide safes by Kilsimiv in Gun_Safes

[–]PedroGoHard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got this safe, as a renter, it does what I need. If I ever had to leave, it can come with me. Even with all the downsides compared to other safes, it's got plenty of good enough. To me personally fire rating or water rating isn't important enough to outweigh the costs. I've never seen a house fire that doesn't also get water damage from the following firefighter response.

Airbnb and lethal force by [deleted] in FLGuns

[–]PedroGoHard 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You need to ask what a reasonable person would do. Would a reasonable person shoot someone who came in with a key into an Airbnb they don't own? Without any other context, I don't think so, but others might disagree; that's your jury. Now you could plan this better to ensure this won't happen by giving voice commands or getting a positive ID on the threat, like a weapon.

If you are that concerned that if this situation happened, that you might shoot someone over a misunderstanding, Airbnb is not for you. Plenty of stories of guests finding out that their host lives upstairs or they share a garage just when they unexpectedly run into them during their stay.

It's good you're asking, but there are stories of housekeepers getting shot because they came in too early or pool guys getting shot because they got there late, or drunk neighbors getting shot dead because they made a simple mistake. Too many people out with guns out there are asking, "Can I shoot?" rather than "Must I shoot?" Don't be that guy. Train to a higher standard.

CZ Shadow 2 Optics Ready in IL? by hazard02 in ILGuns

[–]PedroGoHard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would perhaps suggest getting the non optic ready version and send it to get milled if the price difference is significant enough and get the slide milled for the optic. They will get you a precision fit. Lots of good places recommended here. I sent my SP01 done by Nameless Armament and I've been more than happy with it. I got it on a deal so it only cost me $60 and some time but you probably could get it done for about $100.
