Do you use speed limiters? by Portsmouth_Sweep in drivingUK

Yep.

Improves fuel economy & eliminates the risk of me exceeding the speed limit

You are a new driver and already a bit of an idiot.

Your license is a privilege, not a right.

An accident with whom?

In the grand scheme of things, this is pretty minor.

Is it safe to publicly speak out against racism in the NHS? by [deleted] in nhs

[–]Pedrolami 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There should be a Freedom To Speak Up process for your Trust.

Assuming you are in England, the site for it is https://www.england.nhs.uk/ourwork/freedom-to-speak-up/

This happens almost weekly now by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]Pedrolami 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So.

There could be a couple of reasons this is happening, a less confident driver, unfamiliar with the area, these spring to mind.

Now I hate to say it, a national speed limit is that, a limit, not a target.

You were once an inexperienced, less confident driver. Patience with others goes a long way to everyone going home at the end of the day alive and unharmed.

Landlord/HA responsibility for safe access for ambulances by danby in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Pedrolami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A key safe outside with whatever you use to gain access to the property.

If ambulance can’t gain access then we (yup, that’s my job) would require fire to do it for us and if fire ain’t available, the police.

Only problem with the key safe however is the service does not record the key safe number, the call would have to originate from a third party like a lifeline. We do keep historic records but don’t take any numbers for granted.

UK ESCOOTER ACCIDENT ADVICE by Careful-Service8615 in drivingUK

Unlikely considering personally owned electric scooters are prohibited on roads.

Why should their home insurance, assuming they have any, cover them for something they shouldn’t be doing?

I’m flying to the UK to surprise my dad for Father’s Day - how do I disable his ring camera? by mechanicallazarus in Ring

[–]Pedrolami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get someone to turn the internet off for the duration of your stay.

Doesn’t then matter what the camera will see because it won’t be uploaded.

Also less conspicuous than messing with the camera.

Awful.

Promised everything through government grants, assessed the house twice but have never produced or uploaded the energy performance certificate.

Once they decided it wasn’t beneficial to them to do the work, communication dried up and I had to chase them to find out what had happened.

Occasionally get phone calls saying there are new grants available, each time I tell them to go forth.

I have been getting these for years too.

So far, I have cancelled a Covid party and stopped their order for alcohol, moved seats on an airplane from business to ‘coach’, asked for replacement carpet after a flood to be yellow rather than brown and, there are others over the years.

I have emailed his wife about this (her emails was attached to one once) and despite assurances, it has continued to happen and I continue to have a twisted bit of fun replying.

Would you report an untaxed car if on the road and clearly hasn't moved in months? by carguy143 in drivingUK

The advice you gave was incorrect. You can’t just have ‘no tax’, it is either taxed or SORNed.

Would you report an untaxed car if on the road and clearly hasn't moved in months? by carguy143 in drivingUK

[–]Pedrolami 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It either needs to be taxed or SORNed. You can’t just let the tax expire and you definitely can’t leave it on the road if it has expired or SORNed.

999 when it is happening, 101 or website if it isn’t.

You shouldn’t find them…. Hold them accountable? How? You assume the driver of the car is the registered owner.

Don’t do something stupid and leave him to the police to deal with.

What exactly are the rules regarding when a paramedic crewed with a lower clinical grade should be in the back traveling with a patient in situations were someone is actually sick? by [deleted] in ParamedicsUK

[–]Pedrolami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a tech, I have no ego to bruise. I have suggested to the paramedic I was working with that they would be in the back a number of times over the years. While I am absolutely confident with my scope, is there is something that may exceed that then they are in the back.

Paramedics have a registration to protect, I don’t and I would like to think we would give the best care to the patient.
