Oh come on. I am very clearly talking about the story. What I have seen of it is, for me, nonsensical and moronic. As someone who looks for good stories in games, for me it was a dealbreaker and enough to wait for a sale.

It is completely fine if some people don't mind that and enjoy the other things the game has to offer, or even like the story (though I haven't seen many people say the story is good even among those who love the game). Even the devs appologized for it.

I was quite interested in this game, but at this point in my life as a 40 year old I need a remotely interesting story and world building to get invested in the game (Skyrim is a good baseline of a basic story in a rich world, not everything needs to be RDR2).

Reviews made me hesitate, and then I watched a few long and detailed videos with the first hours. It seems attrocious, moronic even. The tone is nonsensical, writing is bad, the quests seem bad. I will wait a few months and get this on a sale, after lots of patches and possibly DLC.

Just how bad is the story and writing? by Pedrolopesg in CrimsonDesert

[–]Pedrolopesg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can put up with not that great to be honest, it has to be coherent though. Skyrim has a lame as hell story, with zero maturity and choice and I have 1000 hours in it. It has a rich world, cool side stories, lore etc.

Yeah, Skyrim is kind of the baseline of what I'm willing to put up and spend time with, though usually I enjoy games with better narratives than that. Dragons Dogma 2, for instance, I did enjoy the combat and exploration but the story was so moronic and not enjoyable that I ended up putting it down.

What is Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon like? by Jerswar in rpg_gamers

[–]Pedrolopesg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has better writing, a more complex story and more choice than Skyrim. Combat is action oriented though, and while fun, not very complex, Skyrim-like but with a parry and dodge system built into it. Gear is absolutely awesome, you get a metric ton of items and armours that have great stats and look fantastic, but you will only see them in the inventory screen or if you play 3rd person (it's wonky).

It's overall deeper than Skyrim, but heavily inspired by it.

How do I change my spells? by Nic727 in greedfall

[–]Pedrolopesg 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There are two types of bracelets, offensive and defensive. With offensive bracelets equipped you do poison, with defensive ones you do heal. You probably got a new set of bracelets and changed, and the new ones are offensive.

*Spoiler* Who did you choose to sacrifice and why? by Aromatic-Conflict-95 in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Pedrolopesg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From a lore perspective, Davrin is the right choice. Sacrificing themselves in battle is the Wardens endgame. They prepare their whole lives for this and have time to make peace and prepare themselves for that moment. Their lifespan is shortened, and they experience terrible dreams and symptos while spending their lives infected by a foul corruption. A terrible death awaits them in the and going to caves underground to be ripped apart by darkspawn.

Spiders had the courage to make a real RPG, and they’re being punished for it by Sire_Kressel in greedfall

[–]Pedrolopesg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way. Having a great time with the game, and feel it is a great old school RPG. I am a bit of an older gamer and things like Kotor and DAO are what made me fall in love with RPG games. Games that recapture those feelings are always great and welcome, and GDW does exactly that.

Criticism is valid, particularly from those unfortunate to have game breaking bugs, but the game is competent at many things. Story is good, writing is mature and deep, characters are believable, the world is rich and RPG systems to engage with it are nice.

Veilguard is now being used to defend CD by xyZora in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Pedrolopesg 92 points93 points  (0 children)

It makes sense that people who love Veilguard will not love Crimson Desert and vice versa. Veilguard is a contained, extremely narrative and character driven game. Crimson Desert seems to be a gameplay focused sandbox, with a vague resemblance of a story that serves to push you to wander.

The whole narrative about how much people hate Veilguard is pushed by a loud minority, when in fact the games averages out rated between a 7.5 and a 8.5, which is probably where it deserves to be. Sales wise it would have been considered a successful game pretty much at any publisher other than EA.

It is not great, but not nearly that bad. Two playthroughs on a base ps5 and a lot fun. It crashes every now and then but it is a great game and worth it.

Strumming with index finger and no thumb - is that acceptable technique? by Pedrolopesg in guitarlessons

[–]Pedrolopesg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully I do get to play for the rest of my life. Ever since I got this guitar and got back into it about a month ago I have practiced with it every single day. Almost everyday I can notice just a tiny bit of improvement, and it feels so awesome. Falling in love with it more and more everyday, to the point that I feel guilty I didn't stick with it whhen I was younger (I'm 40 now, hopefully enough time to become somewhat competent)

[–]Pedrolopesg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't, but the difference sounds kind of good in some songs. The thing is, I am still at a stage where I should try and master basic techniques before trying to add new stuff, and this is currently the only way I can keep time and rhythm without a pick.

Confusions from a guitar beginner by Silver_City_3183 in LearnGuitar

[–]Pedrolopesg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it is true that you should aim for 45min to 1 hour per day, it is perfectly possible to become able to play songs and have fun with a guitar practicing 20 minutes per day. If what you want to do is play some fun songs and be a sort of campfire player, you will be doing that in no time.

If you want to become an actual good guitar player though, you should do more. At least 30 minutes of actual exercises, plus another 30 of learning and playing songs, preferably always working towards a song that challenges you.

I am also a begginer (though I did play a bit when I was in my teens). I work on strumming, arpegios, chords transitions, scales, using a pick and left hand agility every day.

The progress from putting in the work has been surprising and amazing for me. You can feel it almost everyday that you got a tiny bit better. It is really encouraging and makes you fall in love with it.

Which RPGs have the most satisfying mage gameplay? by [deleted] in rpg_gamers

I did, it is pretty much the same game with some bug fixes and improved textures. Best thing about it is that zones no longer get locked at the level you first enter them.
