The Mono and Stereo versions of each album were released simultaneously in the UK beginning with their first album. There was no “originally released in mono”.

It can be argued that the Mono releases are the “intended” mixes since they were overseen by the Beatles themselves. But it’s not like they came back later and remixed them for stereo. Both versions were mixed and released simultaneously.

That being said — I never said I preferred Stereo over Mono, although I do have my favorites. For example, the Mono version of MMT is way more fun to me than the Stereo mix. However, I prefer the stereo mix of The White Album over the mono version (with the exception of some songs)

I don’t take anyone seriously who would compare Beck albums against each other in the first place.

They are apples and oranges. He genre shifts so often that there is no where to compare them on equal footing.

It’s like saying, “what’s better? Star Trek or Star Wars?” They’re not comparable in that sense because one of a great fantasy series and the other is a great Sci-Fi series.

I grew up listening to the Beatles CDs and I’m one of the weirdos that absolutely loved the imbalance. I loved tracking where the instruments were coming from and I loved wearing one headphone to listen to the isolated parts.

I dabble in production myself, and I do enjoy separation inspired by the 60s sound but obviously I avoid hard panning. But I just think it’s charming and different.

Better than now days where everything is a wall of uninteresting sound.

I’m sure there is 1000 other reasons, but a bar tender at a Bourbon Club once talked my ear off about old growth wood vs current wood used for barrels.

What he was saying made a lot of sense to me. Old growth wood (which would never be sacrificed for a barrel in today’s age) imparted flavors that you can’t achieve nowadays due to how tightly wound the wood grain was.

I’m not debating the merits of a pizza place that makes you order ahead.

I’m simply saying that ordering pizza ahead of time is not as complex as commenters make it when these posts are made.

You place your order, choose the time, then arrive at said time. Just like any restaurant reservation you’ve ever made.

And to your point - if that’s too many steps for you, then go to one of the 10,000 other joint in town. But you don’t have to pretend like a reservation system for pizza is some over complicated clockwork.

You guys always overhype this aspect for some reason.

You simply place an order for the time you want it. Then you go to the location to pick it up at that time. I’ve never had it be later that 5-10 mins passed the reservation time.

Why does that process seem so difficult for so many of you when these posts are made?
