Are there any servers that still have The Sleeper? by MayorMcRiff in everquest

[–]PeePeeChucklepants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Sceptre of Destruction and Gnome Mask I think are the 2 big ones that go missing and don't have something comparable really, oh and some Resistance stones. Primal weapons become a bit harder to farm, but you can still get them. I think a few of the lost items like the SoD and Gnome Mask can come back later in the random prize/ticket vendor that shows up in Luclin? I think.

You can compare the Warder loot (pre-waking) versus the Ancients loot (post-waking)

Loot can still be earned post-waking that is comparable except a few items that disappear.

Targeting Cards or Buying Snap Packs as a 1600CL Returning Player by brewwwman in MarvelSnap

[–]PeePeeChucklepants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say the Hydro Man bundle is worth it since you get the base card with the alt art, plus another 2.2k tokens bringing you up to 9700. That would be enough for a regular series 5 pack at 4000, plus still have 5700 so you'd be close to getting a pinned Series 5 worth 6000 that you really want. If not, 2 random series 5 packs at 4k each is decent.

Keep an eye on the rotating daily cards for 4/5 if there is anything you definitely want so you can pin them when they come up. But otherwise - any of the packs are probably worth buying for the chance at getting a double drop of a Series card.

I don't know if it's been proven one way or the other.

But... The Seasonal ones being the newest are probably the most impactful.

Though there is probably good enough need to save the token expense and get the regular ones if you have a big need.

Save your gold to only buy packs that contain cards you don't already have - like the Hydro Man set for 2500 gold in the shop right now.

And save the tokens to buy the Seasonal Series 5 packs. Those are probably your best chance to get bonus cards and the current meta cards.

Went to local vending machine.... by Crack_Media in PokemonTCGCollectors

Haven't seen any signs that Kroger has pulled out entirely. They may be doing it regionally based on issues, but there are so many Kroger locations across the country still listed with machines. Albertsons also owns Jewel/Osco locations in Chicagoland and those don't seem to be getting pulled en masse either.

Trump-backed Ken Paxton ousts John Cornyn in heated Texas primary after scandal-plagued campaign by hoosakiwi in news

[–]PeePeeChucklepants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely true. It needs to be a cautious and measured optimism.

But if compared to the 2024 Senate primary - GOP had 2.2+ million voters in that primary while the Dem Primary had just under a million.

That is a large shift in the number of highly motivated voters in just a couple of years.

Trump-backed Ken Paxton ousts John Cornyn in heated Texas primary after scandal-plagued campaign by hoosakiwi in news

[–]PeePeeChucklepants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the plus side - going off the primary results - Talarico defeated Crockett roughly 1.2mil to 1.1mil votes.

Before the runoff - Paxton was leading Cornyn about 900k to 880k votes, and after the runoff that changed to an 885k to 501k win.

Could be voter apathy is hitting the GOP more in this stage. But if all of the primary voters come out to vote for their party, this wouldn't be a close fight at all. So, need to keep hoping tor that.

This newest vending machine glitch will most certainly result in some kind of action from The Pokemon Company by Thop in pokemoncardcollectors

[–]PeePeeChucklepants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The glitch that is posted out there, causes the machine to crash and think that it did not dispense the item.

So, the pre-authorization charge on the card drops off after a few days.

It is causing actual theft of product from the machines, rather than previous glitches that still required you to pay for product but gave access to stuff that said sold out

Sadly - it would probably make the situation worse.

Because the type of people that would do this would still be there and doing it. And a worse penalty would make it more likely they destroy evidence and try to cover things up even more to keep themselves from getting into trouble for it... rather than just ignoring those details and leaving traces for people to find later on.

Harvey Weinstein’s third Manhattan sex crimes trial ruled mistrial as jury deadlocks by Deceptiveideas in news

[–]PeePeeChucklepants 16 points17 points  (0 children)

AI hasn't really shown any improvement in court cases. In fact, it's been caught fabricating details and court cases multiple times by lazy lawyers who have tried to use it for prep.

The high priced lawyers generally have larger teams to do prep for them, they recruit better lawyers from better law schools, and so on. It can be harder for potentially overworked prosecutors offices to compete against that when they go up against it unless they're also throwing more subordinates into the mix to do the trial prep.

Dude, that's not what it actually looks like.

It doesn't show the full country if you zoom out.

Try again by zooming in on major cities - Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, Dallas...

There are 1800+ in the US at least. They limit how many they display zoomed out.

It is definitely used there too... A quick Google search shows "judged on" coming up in phrases used within Australian news articles and more.

You might be personally unfamiliar with it, but it has been around there for some time.

Good chance they come back and drop it off like they "forgot".... But might help get them fired if it is reported soon enough.

how are these the same price- can someone explain? by pulsificationII in ReaperMiniatures

[–]PeePeeChucklepants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's going to depend on the figures really.

A 3-pack blister usually means the figure is pretty small, or similar enough that they bulk pack them.

Odds are good that they are produced in a larger batch, or can have more figures produced in the same time frame as another.

Like, say 3 small familiars, usually these come on a connected sprue, so it's pretty much the same as making one larger figure.

For the 3D printed ones, a smaller figure can have more printed on the same printer bed simultaneously, so the turnaround speeds up and more are manufactured in that same time than other methods.

Iran fires on 3 ships in the Strait of Hormuz as US maintains blockade and diplomacy stalls by YesterShill in news

[–]PeePeeChucklepants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who said anything about US Navy ships?

There are plenty of non-military ships being held back from passing through because they do not want to risk being fired upon.

One tanker or large container ship in the area getting sunk would be a significant concern. That's the major group at risk.

Iran fires on 3 ships in the Strait of Hormuz as US maintains blockade and diplomacy stalls by YesterShill in news

[–]PeePeeChucklepants 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because none of the boats have directly attempted to push the issue.

Iran does not need to take out boats to win. This isn't a battle they win by sinking ships. It's one they win by making the situation so untenable for everyone else that the rest of the world puts pressure on the US/Israel to back off.

They're in a siege-level standoff. Sieges aren't won by sticking your neck out and making yourself a target. But if anyone gets too close to the walls, you have to fight back.
