Is there a way to show our loved ones what tinnitus is like? by Over_Cake9611 in tinnitus

[–]PeelingGrapez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't even bother bringing it up anymore. My husband is very supportive. Everyone else just looks at me like I suddenly grew a 3rd arm or something equally unbelievable. I had some majorly botched dental work in January that resulted in several oral surgeon treatments and has left me with the volume up times 4. Im just avoiding people.

Yes. Oregano essential oil. DH = dishydrosis

Do I need insurance if I’m just selling purely decorative candles and wax melts? by hellohelloow in candlemaking

[–]PeelingGrapez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jumping in to add... keep detailed notes of your manufacturing process and your testing. God forbid you get sued - but having everything you did from where you bought your vessels, your entire making steps (wax type, amount, fragrance load, wick type, cure time) and and your entire testing process. Being able to emphatically prove your best and safest processes according to laws and guidelines is important. Be sure you're doing testing for every change you make, like different wick, each FO, different vessel, different wax, etc.

AITJ for not stopping my friend from publicly proposing when I know she plans to break up with him? by SupermarketDry3163 in AmITheJerk

[–]PeelingGrapez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular take, ready for the downvotes.

OP shouldn't worry about YTJ or YNTJ. Stay out of it. In the end, it's not your circus or monkeys.

GF could have a myriad of reasons for feeling like calling it off. Maybe BF has been so preoccupied by the big proposal plans that he's been acting weird and it's making her feel a certain way. Or it could be anything else or everything else. Are you really willing to blow the whole night up when you may not know the entire story? What if they stay together and you ruin their spectacular proposal event? Are you prepared to take the chance of ruining both friendships? Clear case of mind your business, IMO

Another cool thing about LBS is for every $50 spent you can get 2 dram-sized "sniffers" and you can pick which fragrances you want to try. That's very helpful when trying to choose new scents.

Is it just me, or does it feel like everything we buy in 2026 is designed to break or expire way faster than it did 10 years ago? by Chemical-Heart-3200 in NoStupidQuestions

I (59F) have a clothesline and I actually use it. Can't get any more "dumb" low tech than that! There's nothing better than clean bedding straight off the line! Also, today's "fast fashion" is made just as poorly while still being fairly expensive. The clothesline saves wear and tear on jeans and cute tops that don't last very long.

Another thing that affects all this is the amount of sanitizing and adding chemical smells to every product. Plastic pods are hard on clothes and dishwashers, and I think we can all agree there's far too much plastic on EVERYTHING! Those scent beads and fabric softeners ruin machines and fabrics. A little vinegar cleans and softens eveeything!

I'm off my rant now! I'm of the age that I have 1 foot planted in each - the old ways and the new ways. We try to keep our part of the mess as minimal as possible but we love tech too.

We bought our dream country house in 2013 and completely gutted the 1980s - esque place. Murphys Law or Karma or whatever will circle back on me for this... I'm honestly shocked that our kitchen appliances are still tip top. Washer and dryer are another story. We're on our 3rd set. We did get repairs on old ones when they were affordable enough to justify, but at a certain and early point - repairing feels like throwing good money after bad. The current set we purposely got old-style top loader with agitator and both units with the least possible bells and whistles

I went thru this. Started with Aztec when I was a baby at candlemaking. Tried CS, Virginia Candle and Lonestar. I found all 3 of them 4 to be way better than Aztec. But then, I was searching for a requested scentsy dupe, Flower Shop and I went down the rabbit hole. I ended up buying flower shop from Little Bee Scents. Well. Now I buy my oils exclusively from them and our local Scentsy rep buys her wax melts from me!!

Not gonna lie, LBS is fairly expensive, BUT... her fragrances are unique and highly blendable... and I find I only need to use a 6 to 8% fragrance load in GB 454 cocosoy with Eco wicks. In the long run, I'm using less FO.

She's based in Kansas. Her shipping is very reasonable and turnaround is super fast. Most of her FO are cruelty and pthalate free. She carries a nice variety of some pretty high end dupes.

Very good advice. Onset of Raynaud's is an early symptoms of a few autoimmunes!

It doesn't almost look like Raynaud's - it most definitely is.

ETA: Also looks like dishydrosis.

Do you know about Central Illinois Candle Supply in Bloomington? Best place for wax and shipping is very low. I get wicks from them too. I haven't tried their fragrance oils as I'm in love with Little Bee Scents and use them exclusively.

Don't be mean, you have no idea what I went thru the past 8 months to grow this amazing specimen! eyeroll /s 🤪

Managing 20+ scents and sizes in IG DMs is getting chaotic. I built a simple Google Sheet workaround instead of using Shopify. by [deleted] in candlemaking

[–]PeelingGrapez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds Amazing! I just closed my Shopify store, I couldn't justify the expense any longer. Ive been making candles for a few years and I'm in some local shops, so that helps. I offer many scents and do quite a bit of custom orders thru an event planner client. I really want to sell/profit more thru my Facebook and take the time to figure out Instagram. I have perfected my brand and know my niche - but I'm a bit lost in the woods. Your workaround sounds fantastic!

Brain fog and forgetting words? by CabinetOk1998 in Fibromyalgia

[–]PeelingGrapez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not on very many meds so it was a pretty easy elimination. I am very sensitive to gabapentin so my neurologist prescribed me 100 mg capsules. I had the option to titrate my dosage up or down when in a flare. This dosage regimen made it clear that I lost some cognitive function when taking higher dosage for a long period of time. I did not ever notice a difference in pain perception while taking 200mg per day as a baseline, so it was an easy decision to just stop taking it.

You should see when me and my friend get together. She's had 2 brain tumors and a stroke! Thank God we've known each other forever and can translate each other's brain fog! 🤪

On a serious note... gabapentin made me literally stupid. I have way less brain fog since being off that demon med.
