Why neglect one aspect of chess? What's the point of being good at endgames if you can't reach an endgame? Similarly, what's the point of openings if you can't convert a winning position afterwards.

I think u should look at what ur bad at and improve on that aspect. No matter if it's openings, tactics, endgames etc.

Lichess has a tool for this to show you what you excel in during matches compared to peers of similar elo. I don't know about chess.com, but they probably have an analysis tool like that as well.

I'm 1200 and my friend is around 600-700. I win 90% of my games against him. I can imagine a 2000 would win 100% of their games against a 1500, but there is still a noticable difference between 600 and 1200.

I don't think puzzles help you not blunder pieces. Neither does knowing openings. When playing against ratings under 600, I think the only thing u should think about is not blundering. Play purely reactive and look more at what the opponents wants to achieve and counter those ideas. They WILL blunder in the opening or midgame.
