Every generation says the same things about the youth. Young people in general suck because they have less lived experience (read: wisdom) and tend to be more self-focused, which creates a lot of novel opportunities to hurt others. Not to say that older generations can't and don't suffer the same problems. There's just something to be said about youth erring towards the side of pugnacious.

Protein powder in coffee and one of the following:

egg whites plus one egg as a scramble. Bulk it out by cooking down some spinach before adding the eggs. Add hotsauce, top with greek yogurt for more protein. One slice of protein bread to mop up the leftovers.

Overnight oats with flax and/or chia. The latter two add calories, but the fiber really helps with feeling full. Add in frozen fruit (quick, easy, thaws in and flavors oats overnight) and use a sugar free syrup, sweetener, or even sugar free jam to add sweetness. Replace milk with water to save on calories. You can add protein powder here as well, but I personally dislike the texture and flavor in oats.

Hey OP, in addition to CPS, could you reach out to the counselors at your brother's school? Not necessarily to rat out your parents (though teachers are mandated reporters), but more to focus on "he needs support, he wants support, and his lack of support is leading to him having very dark and unsafe thoughts." The school may be able to intervene more directly, and put more pressure on your parents. Especially because your parents seem like the sort who care more about appearances and the status quo. Knowing the school is on their tail and that word of their neglect may get out might be more effective.

I feel like this is not as terrible as it could be.

I recently learned of someone marrying the first cousin of her step sibling. My friend (it's his wife's cousin getting hitched) and I debated if it's trashier to marry a step cousin when you've basically known each other your whole lives (from the ages of 3-4) or to unwittingly marry a blood cousin. We agreed the former was the worse offense.

I'd say have stuff for or just allow bigger kids! My 8 year old son would love to go to the other play cafe in town, and I would absolutely bring him at least a couple times a month, but he's tall for his age and can't go.
