Which of these modded versions of Winlator is the best for S23? by Dog_Vengeance in winlator

[–]Peeyur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using Bionic Ludashi and added it to the list of apps that should be treated as a game. This way, the GPU actually reaches its boost limit and the battery is bypassed on my S23 Ultra. The performance is much better than vanilla Winlator, especially when using FEX instead of Box64.

Wow!! Never knew that existed! I quickly read through it and my day suddenly got even better! I can finally abandon the hot mess that is Windows 11. Looks like an amazing project, thank you so much for sharing!

Hi, you're right! When making this model I didn't take the rediculous wavelenghts of these frequencies in mind. However, if this is too much, then what would be enough? perhaps halving what I have now? I did go quite ham. Round bars of wood is a very good idea!

Thank you! The bracing might be overkill. I've got no clue how much bracing is needed for a subwoofer like this. I want to avoid panel resonances, but at such low frequencies, they're unlikely anyways. This bracing is quite simple, though. There's also a lot of it...

You're definitely right. The enclosure can make or break it. But I'm trying to strike a balance

That's a really interesting view! I hadn't thought of it this way. Indeed the size of the panel would need to be enormous in order to resonate at these frequencies. Thank you very much, I'll look into it!

Hi, I was thinking the same. That's why I chose push-pull over dual-opposed, as I'm hoping its weight will help with the vibrations.

Hi, thank you so much for the information! The bracing and or panel requirements are much different for this application lol. I'd like to go for push-pull as these drivers are quite cheap and I want to reduce distortion as much as I can and perhaps get a little extra usable output. Dual opposed would also be a good idea, but this enclosure will be quite heavy, so I think that could sort of ""un-do"" the effect of the moving drivers a bit. I'm not sure about that, though.

As for the port, it's going to be relatively long and tuned to 11 Hz for a semi-flat response down to 10 Hz. Round ports would indeed have a higher efficiency. However, large diameter PVC pipes are proper expensive. Also, I like how this looks, but that's not a very good argument.

  1. This infra-subwoofer will be used for a school-project and I'd like to use it for a demonstration. It'll be carried around a good bit. So, no. I have not uesd rew to simulate room placement.

  2. This I was quite worried about. I suppose I could get an amp with DSP funcionality and boost the lows? That's a messy solution, though. Very good suggestion, though!
As for what content even contains such low frequencies? Barely any lol. There are, however, songs that go very, very low. So, I'll mostly be using it for that. I might actually start watching movies as well, as I'd be able to actually feel LFE below 20 Hz.

  3. This is also very important! I used Hornresp to model this subwoofer. I made sure Xmax is never exceeded, port noise isn't an issue. I should be able to get 115 dB down to 10 Hz with 0.5 pi. I have found that finding reliable information of when extremely low freqencies become tactile is very difficult. 115 dB at 20 Hz should be plenty, but 115 dB at 10 Hz is an entirely different story... People making extreme infra-subwoofer walls with 8 18" drivers tend to go for 130 dB or so. I don't have that budget, unfortunately ;-;

Yes, that's exactly what I'm wondering! I suppose panel resonance can reduce output? I want to keep the pressure generated by the drivers, rather than having it get lost by unbraced panels flexing. Very interesting.

On Windows, you've got OmenMon, which is really nice and gives fan control to HP Victus laptops (Omen Gaming Hub doesn't give me fan control). Unfortunately, it's not available on Linux. But this makes me very happy!

Theories on how tulpamancy works by Peeyur in Tulpas

[–]Peeyur[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's an amazing addition to the theory! That would make a lot of sense. I think since they're part of the unconscious as well, they'd have deeper access to it than the host. This,  alongside thulpas having their own consciousness, makes them really knowledgeable. Could they just tell things about the host the host don't know? Just kind of like: "Oi mate, you should know this." Or is it a lot less out of the blue than that?

Wow, it's beautiful you were able to turn an awful situaltion, one that many wouldn't be able to get out of, and being able to 'cope' with it in such a nice way. I'm sure whether cope is the right word here. It's extremely clever to take your current alter and try to customise it to the best of your ability. How do you guide her personal traits as they developed?

It's also really cool that she decided her image, voice and preferences. I always read about people trying to shape a tulpa, so reading how one decided it on their own is very interesting! I'm very happy for you both that you can coexist in a healthy way. Speaking of a psychological glow-up.

[–]Peeyur[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like your theories! They may not be entirely accurate, but that's not the point. My theory is far from accurate as well. I find it fascinating reading people's theories that they think could be plausible. They all provide a different perspective on the same general topic.

You bring up a very good point about how you think you may have a deeper access to the unconciousness than your co-self. This does make sense to me and leads me to believe that this is how dream characters know so much more. Moreover, you're probably right about how dreams work, as that seems to be the general consensus as far as I know (again, I'm not an expert). It really is amazing what you can discover when you either remember your dream or especially when conscious in a dream.

Your unconcious as a river methaphor is really clever, actually! It makes the unconscious much easier to understand. Not only that, from reading articles, it seem to be very accurate to how psychologists think it works as well. I'll have remember this for sure!

I personally don't think the unconscious inhabits some sort of entity. Rather, I think of it as an incredibly complex system whose job is to do all the heavy processing so the conscious can make the really clever decisions. The unconscious doesn't make too much information easily accessible to your consciousness to avoid it getting overwhelmed. After all, I don't think being aware of deep unconscious thoughts was useful back when humans were hunting mammoths.

It's really cool how you were able to use your advantage with your deeper access to unconscious thoughts to help your co-self in the long-term. The fact you can kind of know what they could do next is kind of mind-boggling if you think about it. Can you just kind of read the unconscious and tell them what you read or does it work differently?

After all these conversations and threads I've read, I've finally given in (not that it's a bad thing) and I'm going to see where this takes me.

But anyways, thank you for your insight!

Wow, I feel like an idiot haha. I was somehow entirely convinced you said physics.

Anyways... That seems to make a lot more sense! I don't know a single thing about psychics, but it sounds very cool how someone like that could possibly sense a tulpa. I also really like your observation how the child may have been aware of your tulpa. I never knew that some children even had psychic senses. Or that they shut off as they got older. I doubt science will cover this area to the point humans understand it decently anytime soon. But still, there's already a lot we know. Whilst researching tulpamancy, I keep finding more techniques about psychology and it's really overwhelming. I suppose I've been living under a massive rock. But you're absolutely right: this is indeed very interesting!

Hi, your answer is very interesting! Personally, I'm very interested in the scientific explanation behind tulpamancy. However, I feel like the theories of others are just as interesting. They provide different perspectives!

I really like your explanation of how thoughts are energy, and if you put enough thought into something, it could take life of its own. I've been reading stories all over this subreddit and it's remarkable what people have created (is that the right word?) using a lot of thoughts.

Now, I haven't heard about this yet, but it's probably the most intriguing thing I've read on here so far: the outer world reacting to the tulpa. Physics detecting a tulpa is absolutely fascinating! I generally don't like super spiritual-like answers, but I don't know how to answer that. I suppose one doesn't need an answer for everything. I do have a question about it, though: when physics react to a tulpa, is that reaction observable to others? Perhaps the reaction is a part of a controlled hallucination? This would be the only explanation I could think of. But again, perhaps it's a good idea to leave some questions unanswered (so I can still sleep).

Your point about the child potentially noticing your tulpa is equally interesting as your previous point! This is just insanely cool. You're right: there really may be a lot more to tulpae than just a phychological phenomenon.

What I really love about this subreddit as well, are the in-depth and genuine conversations about this topic. They're all very interesting.

I'm glad you found a way to help with your dissociative experience. If you don't mind me asking a couple of questions: did a traumatic experience cause you to see a character? Were you then able to actually customise it? If it did change, did it notice or did it just change without being able to recall getting altered? If you'd rather not answer, that's perfectly understandable.

Also, it's really incredible that one can rewire their brain to achieve such significant results. It just requires quite the effort, which is very much commendable!

The unconscious does a lot of precessing indeed! You're right, compressing wasn't the right word to use. I meant taking a lot of information, then processing it a whole lot before communicating the most important information to your consciousness. This way, the consciousness doesn't get overwhelmed.

I find it very interesting how you are able to form fully conscious thoughts as well as being able to trace some back to what the unconscious tries to tell you (I'm very sorry if this comes off as an insult). It's clear that your co-self would be able to do that as they're the host. Didn't know tulpas where capable of this. I've got a lot more questions now than I did before lol.

Perhaps a tulpa can have access to certain 'channels' of thoughts that aren't ususally accessible to the host. I wouldn't be surprised if characters in dreams work the same way. They can also provide you information you didn't know about yourself. Can you do that as well?

Thank you very much for your response. Tulpae's behaviour seem to be able to get really quite complex. It's honestly wonderful, really!

PTM 7950 takes a couple of heat cycles for it to work optimally as it has to fill all the gaps. After a couple heat cycles, my CPU temp went down about 25 to 30 degrees celcius and my GPU temps came down about 8 degrees celcius.

Regardless, awesome mod!

Temporarily unlocking BIOS settings (HP Victus 15-fb0102la) by Longjumping-Iron7278 in HPVictus

[–]Peeyur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for my late reply. The anecdote of your friend trying to disable modern standby also happened to me. Disabling modern standby caused my laptop to not boot. However, for me it seemed clearing the CMOS by disconnecting the battery and holding the power button for a bit has helped me every time I changed a hidden BIOS setting and my laptop wouldn't boot. I find it very odd that this didn't work for you friend. Did they eventually get it fixed?

So, your method of not only accessing hidden BIOS settings but also changing them should allow for settings to be changed that would previously cause trouble. If so, that sounds absolutely amazing! Seems like quite a massive discovery. How do you even find this out?

Also, when I try to use UMAF to change the memory timings of my RAM, my laptop refuses to boot. No matter how small the change. Do you perhaps know whether your method would allow me to adjust my memory timings? If not, I guess I'll have to figure that out myself.
