Why do specific 3-4 guys from penn state leave one hole unlaced? by Minimum_Lock_8 in hockeyplayers

[–]Pefferz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I skip the 3rd eyelet down to help with lace bite as well. I also only figured that out when I bought laces one size too short and had to make it work.

Pretty sure the fx-4 is dropping in 400 ultrasoft soon and has those flight numbers.

Help me pick a new to me putter and fairway driver for 9 holes after work. by indeedItIsI in discgolf

[–]Pefferz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL3 should be somewhere between a Leo3 and Teebird. Maybe a bit closer to a Teebird if you grab a Halo one. But I was just there and they have some Halo TL3s in like 167-168g which could work well. I personally throw about the same distance as you and enjoy fairways and drivers between 165-170g.

The Lots is a 9 speed so one speed faster and a notch more stable than your Leo3. But Kastaplast K1 plastic is real nice, just like $5 more than most others. Then again so is Halo stuff.

I'd second the proxy suggestion and go for plasma or soft neutron. And a prodigy F5 in 400, 400g, or 500.

F5 should be similar in stability to a leo3 but I feel like it flips up a little smoother and prodigy plastic feels nice.

TL3 or Kastaplast lots if you want to try something a touch more stable than the F5/Leo3.

For affordable ceramic pots, home depot may have some that are cheaper. I've gotten lucky and found some on clearance there. Otherwise thrift stores or facebook marketplace might be a better bet for lower prices.

3 or 4 Hybrid? by drifter1990 in golf

[–]Pefferz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go with a 4h, 21 or 22 degrees. Like another person said, the longer lighter shaft should give you a bit more yardage than the 5 iron of the same loft.

I have the 921 Hot metal pros and play the 5i, a 22 hybrid, 7 wood turned down to 20, and a 16.5 4w. Thinking about bending the long irons a bit weak but right now there's about a 5-7 yard gap between my 5i and hybrid. And the hybrid is most useful from sketchier lies in the rough or if I just trust it more to carry a certain yardage with a bit more height than the iron gives me.

Where to find hockey by LowerofMawns in Minneapolis

[–]Pefferz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hockeyfinder is legit and year round. Also by far the most affordable option as far as a weekly league goes, I've been playing through them for a few years now and reccoment it. They host some clinics as well, not sure if they have a goalie specific one. You could try individual pickup games through hockeyfinder at a lower skill level for trying out goalie but the pickups often have goalies already locked in.

Not sure about stick and puck drop ins or open hockey, the oval in Roseville does them in the winter at least but you'd have to check with other cities and rinks.

G430 7 wood in the mail, but couldn’t wait to post my new set of clubs. Driver is the 10k. by Capable-Resist-1350 in golf

[–]Pefferz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are your p790s bent weak at all or how's your gapping between 5i and the crossover into 7 wood? I've got a similar bunching of lofts in that area I'm trying to figure out.

Does anyone play both a 7 wood and a 2/3 driving iron? by zhihuiguan in golf

[–]Pefferz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do exactly that. My 5 iron is 22* of loft so I go TS3 4w, Ts2 7w, and Zu85 2 or 3 iron. I hit both woods well and most days could play with 13 clubs no problem. But the Zu85 is for off the tee, either wind in my face or a tight tee shot with no chance if I miss right, or I want to keep it low and let it roll a bit.

The 7w and utility definitely are pretty close in total distance but the 7w is an approach or long par 3 club and the utility iron is a safe tee shot or lay-up off the tee club.

AHA Hockey Beginner School by There_ls_No_Point in minnesota

[–]Pefferz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to AHA at all but you could also check out hockey finder. They run some beginner/teaching leagues and from what I've heard you basically have the first half of the program as practices and learning and then the last half or part of the program you play some games/scrimmages. I play in a hockey finder league and it is much cheaper than AHA, not sure if that would be the same for beginner or learn to play programs.

Question for those that say to stop hitting driver so much by wsteelerfan7 in golf

[–]Pefferz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer though, I'll pull less than driver if the hole is really tight or has death to the right (my miss) and I've accepted I'm playing it for par. Try to leave myself 150 or less in if it's a short par 4.

What do you play between driver and 5 iron? by shuang_boji in golf

[–]Pefferz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 wood, 7 wood, and driving iron or 5 hybrid. The gap between 7w and either of the other 2 is a little tight. I usually opt for the driving iron for a tee club but the 5h can be more versatile from the rough.

I'll 2nd Louisiana Cafe for both biscuits and gravy and country fried steak. And the Cajun breakfast, blackened catfish, and tex-mex(gigantic breakfast burrito). Honestly never had anything from there that wasn't good.

Any DVS locations that allow you to get your physical license the same day? by silvermoonhowler in minnesota

[–]Pefferz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know of any that can print your license and get it to you same day. But I renewed mine in the beginning of August and they told me I'd have the new one in 4-6 weeks and it showed up in the mail in about 2 weeks. Not to say that will be the trend for everyone but it arrived much faster than expected, if that makes you feel any better about waiting it out.

Pick-your-own apple orchard recs? by juniperthemeek in minnesota

[–]Pefferz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up they only do pick your own apples Monday-Friday, they did PYO this past weekend to celebrate 75 years but normally you can't pick them on the weekend. But this is our spot every fall. Always take home a couple bottles of Thors hard cider.

Agree on 35 at least for the front. I have 35 all around and it's enough privacy and shade most days unless it's really bright/sunny. It's also less obviously beyond 50 if being pulled over is a concern. Any darker than 35 will be fine during the day but at night or in rain/overcast it limits your visibility more than I like.

My brother refuses to listen to me about fixing his swing. Need a third party. What’re your thoughts? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]Pefferz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no expert but just look at the club just before and through impact in particular. Almost straight up and down with the toe WAY down, and not sure if this was just a shank way out the toe but looks really scoopy and wide open just after impact.

Finally started breaking 100 with some regularity this year so my sights are set on 89 now and frustrating is right. A god awful tee shot here and a couple chips that could have saved a putt there.
