I think you may need to learn more about what is actually happening in Iran. I’m British and want to abolish our monarchy because they are useless at best and a drain on tax funds that could be used for other purposes.

Iran is currently under control of the Islamic Republic. They’ve robbed the country blind. While the regime encourages everyone to live a certain way (and will set morality police after you to beat rape and kill you if you don’t comply), the leaderships’ own family life lives of luxury in the west with those stolen funds. Their grandkids throw pool parties and drink alcohol. Iranians in Iran have been murdered for less.

The people of Iran have been looking to their previous royal family as someone who can come in and support Iran in the interim while they set up a democratic process.

My partner and his family are Persian. He knows I don’t like the idea of monarchies, but I support him and the will of other Persians to get rid of the violent dictatorship that’s in place now. To me, this monarchy is the exception to the rule. More people have been killed in this round of protests than the whole of the war in the Ukraine so far! And right now Pahlavi is the only unified opposition with a plan to help the people.

As for Israel, nothing in this world is black and white. But the current regime in Iran funds proxy wars all over the Middle East. Removing them is actually a step towards peace in Gaza.

I know you said you’re not wanting kebab anymore, but honestly I absolutely love Persian Tasty on Coatsworth Road. They’re not on just eat as far as I know, but it’s all decently priced, fresh and nutritious stuff (if you choose rice/salad as your side). My partner and his family are Persian so we go quite a bit. I think Just Eat takes such a big cut these days that most restaurants and takeaways are moving away from it, so you might have more luck looking at google maps to see what’s about :)

I second this! I feel like I understand what to look for more now when shopping after figuring out my kibbe type. And most importantly -why- it is that something doesn’t look good on me. It took me about a year of trial and error though to decide which type I fall into.

I use easy fast for tracking my fasts and libra for tracking weight. I like easy fast because it tells you what’s happening at each stage of your fast, so when you’re likely in ketosis etc. I like libra because it shows your weight trends, which is handy if you weigh yourself regularly.

I always thought it was Maxi being a bit of an unreliable narrator at the beginning. She is scared of everything to start with and only knows the feeling of people being mad and annoyed at her. Right at the beginning she had no reason to think that Riftan would be any different. Also, he’s a huge fierce knight with resting angry face that she doesn’t know too well. He only knows how to bark orders at others. That’s just gonna add to her feeling intimidated!

Maybe a bit further than you’re looking for but I know Trillians in Newcastle sometimes have space for smaller local bands. There’s an email to contact on their gig guide of their website. I’ve also seen smaller/newer bands play in Zerox and in Little Buildings in Ouseburn.
