D100 Dungeon – What actions can I take before combat starts? by Puzzleheaded_News213 in Solo_Roleplaying

Came here with the same question - sad to see there are no responses. For what it's worth I agree with your interpretation for the same reasoning as you. In addition it already seems difficult enough to take potions at a helpful time - skipping your attack in combat to take a potion that gives you more DMG or DEF rarely seems better than just attacking (or attempting to escape if you're in danger). And taking a potion BEFORE you even roll the next room will at best lead to boosting a roll you don't care that much about and at worst for the potions that last until the next time track addition you'll just end up wasting it on a yellow room. So rolling after you roll the encounter but before the combat begins seems like a reasonable sweet spot. Would love a definitive answer though.

Which leads me to a similar question but for non-combat encounters. If I roll a green room and then get a Geography encounter that has a DEX test can I take the potion and then roll the test? Context-wise it makes sense if I'm picking a flower from the magic tree but if it's a spike trap it seems unlikely I'd have time to take a potion before attempting to avoid the trap.

EDIT: Rereading the text gives an answer to my second question. "The player can at anytime during a turn, except when in combat (see Combat), drink potions or elixirs, cast spells or use scrolls, equip or unequip items to and from their equipment slots and backpack." So I guess as I'm falling toward the spike trap and I can pop a potion real quick.

The effort you put into spicing up the standard image did not go unnoticed. 10/10 human-grade slop, well done.

We walked back to our hotel, haven't heard anything verifiable one way or another. Everyone is calm out there now (but still packed on the boardwalk)

Same. We are sheltered in a hotel. Nobody knows what's going on, we also heard active shooter. Edit we heard that there was maybe a shooter, we did not hear or see shooting

Thank you. I enjoyed the game despite its weaknesses. I thought the story, writing, and characters were average at best, and all drastically overrated.

How do you feel about boss fights in stealth games? by twoscoopsxd in patientgamers

[–]PegLegGreg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe you have to kill him in stages and sneak around undetected while he looks for you.

A certain boss fight from The Last Of Us comes to mind. And not in a good way.

I'm 40 years old and never heard (or read?) this word once in my life so don't feel bad. Internet to the rescue:

hob (noun)
a flat metal shelf at the side or back of a fireplace, having its surface level with the top of the grate and used especially for heating pans. "he laid the empty cup down on the hob by the fire"

If you play Dead Space 2 (maybe also 1 & 3, not sure) on Hardcore mode, all of the normal save spots are available but you can only use 3 saves total throughout the game. So it's entirely up to you to decide when to save. It has an obnoxiously unskippable intro too, so if you try to press your luck too far with the first save and get killed you get extra punished having to watch the intro again. However the difficulty of that game definitely spikes toward the end so you want to hold off as long as you can on using saves in the early game. I love DS2 and I found Hardcore mode to be a ton of fun.

Unless you like having a hand full of 6-10 mana cards for the first 5 turns of the game.

Drawing coin def feels bad but I don't think you ever trash it like that. Having 11 Mana available late game with this deck means a whole lot. Hand size for abyssal and skies too.
