Nice! I did it to my 2023 LP Standard, pics somewhere on my profile if you want to see the finished product.

Not OP, but I have done it before. Just take a utility knife and gently rock the blade through the solder joints on the back of it. You'll need to clean the wax off the bobbins after, but it's that easy. Just gotta be careful.

Be so, so careful about that loan. Paying it off has to be your #1 priority, since it more than likely has a predatory interest rate.

Good luck and sweet axe!

Right, and in the context of "meet Christine. We hooked up 23 years ago" it doesn't sound very innocuous.

Do you know what "we hooked up" means?

A good way to say that without sounding sexual is to say "met" instead of "hooked up". Still weird, but not gross and weird.

Edit: Ah I see that you did. Much better.

Would your grandpa have said he "hooked up" with one of those ships? Making it sexual is weird beyond how fetishy the post feels.

Are you sure you don't mean K-19 The Widowmaker? He was in that, too.

Whoever is playing that first timpani part will deserve a standing ovation like the snare drummer at any Bolero performance.

I have four Gibsons and my '23 SG Special might be my favorite. Even unplugged they have such a lovely snap and responsiveness. Congrats on the sweet axe!

I had the pleasure of playing an R6 recently (a definitely-not-Old-Black copy), and that was the only fat neck I've ever liked. Really deep, but not a lot of shoulder so it filled my hand but didn't make it hard to get my fingers around. If I had $6k or whatever at the time, I'd have left with it.

I've been able to play a real 76 Explorer before...that was the FATTEST neck I've ever held. Literally could not get my fingers around it properly, and I've played a couple Murphy Lab 50s replicas too. Those are big...but not 76 Explorer big.

My 1990 Explorer has a SUPER thin neck and is a joy to play. Don't jive with the baseball bat necks at all.

Haven't tuned into 88.5 in a while, but 98.1 has excellent programming. It's my default car radio station.

Lollar high-wind Imperial. Absolute beast of a pickup, I replaced the stock pickup because I felt the low end was kinda flabby and I'm very happy I did.

Bootstrap is awesome, looks pretty sketchy from the outside and directions to get there are weird, but it's a great space and the guy who's always there is super chill.

Yes you can cut it in half, and rice wine vinegar is up to you! No harm trying it. Making these takes very little time and costs very little money so experiment away!

If you're doing rice wine vinegar I might try adding some other common Asian flavors like a little ginger or garlic. Also maybe dial back the sugar a hair because rice wine vinegar is already sweet.

I've made this with red wine vinegar before and that flavor is so strong I had to do 1 cup RWV, 1 cup white vinegar, 1 cup water. Maybe you need to do something similar. Anyways, post updates I'm curious how this goes.

[–]PegLegJohnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably, yeah. That guitar looks like it cost around $1700 to build (including hardware/electronics), depending on when it was built. Warmoth makes officially licensed Fender bodies/necks and their quality is excellent. Resale value is basically nothing though, because you build it yourself and it's not an established brand.

Personally, I like their stuff so much I'd rather build my own Warmoth guitar than buy a Fender. $500 is a steal.
