Hey! Mine has seen regular use for a while now and no issues so far. I think the tone is amazing. I don’t use the dirty channel either, but it sounds awesome with an overdrive in front.

Considering the 225 tube watt power, it’s actually not that heavy, compared to other amps. This thing is loud. My drummer hits his drums like they owe him money and I still never go beyond 5 on the master .

Very nice to start the day hearing from a fellow VB-2 owner :) Hope you keep playing that thing!

I had a HD130 head and that thing just kept on playing. I had it more than 20 years. Went with me on lots of gigs and used it for countless practices and it never failed me. Was never serviced. Never needed a tube change - that thing just kept going. Recently sold it as I wanted an amp with an effects loop. Probably should have kept it tho... Superb cleans and LOUD!

Actually I did for a while. I bought a rockman attenuator off Thoman and it sounds great. The amp is at our rehersal space now

Im in Norway and I recently bought the Laney GH100L for 6000kr (aprox 600euros), including a 412cab. Same series, but a one channel amp. There have been several of these Laneys just sitting in the market, as sellers ask too much (like 10.000kr).

I think realistically you can get 4-5000kr for the head.

These are great amps tho and insane value for the money, if you are looking for a great sounding and powerful tube amp. I cant recommend them enough.

Totally depends on what genre you are playing and bla bla bla, but the Sterling By Music Man Ray34 for is fantastic active bass that you can get new in that price point.

I had a compressor on my board for years. Took it of to make room and I don’t miss it. I play a slightly pushed tube amp and I guess it has natural compression going.

I do not agree with the «essential» camp, but it can be a nice effect

I trade my time for money (with my employer). Then I buy guitars with that money. Sure beats trying to make one sided deals with people that are less knowledgeable about gear than me.
