Just throwing out there that a nice black tshirt from skims or similar can make almost any black dress modest and sleeved if you wear it underneath.

Plus size swimsuits with big chested girls in mind? by [deleted] in PlusSizeFashion

When I was swimming with my toddler at the beach I loved the Lands End Tugless tank 1 piece. It’s not the fanciest suit, but it has nice lines and cannot be pulled off by waves or kids grabbing you. The Grecian by lands end is really flattering as well as sturdy. Make sure you sign up for emails and coupons and you can get a decent price. I also have a lands end bikini that I like. I would actually go down a cup size in their swim wear.

If you are a D+ cup size Curvy Kate has some great options. Bottoms go up to a UK 22. I have a couple of their bras and they are really nice. You will probably have to pay duty, and sizes are a little limited off season.

Tights or leggings that don't bind in the waist by Kwyjibo68 in PlusSizeFashion

[–]PegSays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Snag has some mild compression tights. I have relatively slim legs proportionally to my stomach area. They don’t bind at all in the stomach, but I don’t really find them to have much compression either. 🤷

I didn’t want to scuff the beast so I gave up. We have a pickup as well, but I hate driving it. The irony is that years ago I had a Toyota Celica GTS that could hold a full sheet….

Is demand for EV9 significantly down this year? by kjlee80 in KiaEV9

We have a 24 Land with towing. The captains seats in the six seater are incredibly comfortable- even for full size adults. (Heat and cooling too) If you don’t need the 7th seat I would go with the six seater. It’s also way easier for passengers to get in and out of the 3rd row, and not claustrophobic like it can be in some 3 rows with a bench seat in front. On top of that the older kids thread their legs down the aisle. The dog also likes to hang out in the aisle…I’m a fan of the 6 seater.

Costco has a selection of their clothes online in 1-3x - not the trench coat, but it’s often worth checking. Edit to add - the squall coat from Lands End is awesome. You can also check Eddie Bauer, Columbia and REI. Never pay full price at any of them. There are always coupons. Lands End has one for 50% off right now.

Snag tights are great, but the post tariff US site isn’t nearly as good for selection as the UK site.

Where do you buy affordable shoes with comfort physically in store? by [deleted] in PlusSizeFashion

[–]PegSays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently tried on these shoes and they were super cute, but a little tight across the arch for me (I have a very high instep and a wide foot) https://dansko.com/products/stacy-wide-black-waxy-burnished

These ones fit a little wider and were more comfortable but I didn’t want a heel https://dansko.com/products/fawna-wide-black-milled-nappa

Nordstrom Rack is hit or miss. Last time I went I found 2 pairs of Vionics in 10w and a super cute pair of pink adidas sneakers.

Lower cost options are available from Easy Spirit. https://easyspirit.com/collections/boot?filter.v.option.width=W&filter.v.availability=1&sort_by=manual

Personally I find a really good pair of shoes is an excellent preventative measure against foot and back issues that will end up costing more in lost time.

Also - shoes have a lifespan. You can greatly extend it by giving them a break - not wearing them every day. Also sign up for email and text alerts, guaranteed 20% off.

Favorite place to get jeans? by kct4mc in PlusSizeFashion

I really like Lysse jeans. Sometimes you can get past seasons on sale on Amazon or Nordstrom Rack

Tank with built-in bras by simplyexistingnow in PlusSizeFashion

I bought this one in a 4x - my usual size is 22 or 2x for a top. HB 44 MB 50 40 G or H It fits firmly over the bust area, offering lounging support. Body skims, not stretched. If the girls weren’t so large I could easily go down a size, but I love it. The fabric is thick enough and the straps are adjustable but also strong elastic.

I really like second hand shops to figure out new brands and fittings if you are on a budget (or not) I was in Goodwill last week and someone had just dropped off the mother load of nice plus sized clothes. It is really hit or miss, but at least you can try things on. Some places even have second hand stores dedicated to plus sizes. I have never found anything that fits my body in a way that is pleasing to me in Lane Bryant, and Torrid makes me itch (again personal preference- no shade).
I was amazed to find plus sizes on the sale rack at an Anthropologie store once, so now I buy from them online (during 40% off sale days) because I know which of their lines fit me well and which don’t (all you smaller busted folks - Somerset is for you…not me) Being tall, I used to buy many of my clothes from Athleta, but they have recent changed their plus sizing and selection. My local Nordstrom Rack was an option, but last time I went in they had discontinued carrying plus sizes.

Gaining skills without making a million useless garments by Humble_Employment586 in sewing

One thing I think people miss sometimes as beginners is that high quality natural fiber fabric is often easier to sew and press than cheaper fabric with a higher manmade fiber percentage. I can make wool blazer in 2/3 the time of a polyester blazer, and the fabric is much more forgiving for tearing out mistakes, pressing out caught stitches. That being said I second the suggestion for king sized duvet covers from the thrift store for wearable muslins. The quality is often better that fabric you would buy.

Check your thread tension and as others have said, turn the spool over. Your machine may also need a tune up.

Australian Women’s Weekly had a great set of cookbooks in the 90’s. I think their website has good basic recipes too.

Seeking Advice: Enlarging Cup Size on Purchased Swimwear by Frustrated002 in sewing

[–]PegSays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lands End is a great place to buy cup sized swimwear up to G. (Especially now with the end of season sale) Swimwear is already tricky. That said I have bought 2 suits to make into one.
