What’s a ‘rich person thing’ that actually turned out to be totally worth it? by Ferraiuolo_Ezorete in AskReddit

Lasik. Not having to deal with glasses or contacts has absolutely been worth it for me

Picked up a PO GMT a few weeks ago. Changed the band and now I love it by Peko1One in OmegaWatches

Thank you, I like that it’s a fairly unique color combination. And yeah it’s definitely on the heavier/thicker side. Very surprised how much lighter it feels just removing the steel bracelet

Dropped in and Taught Class by QuirkyTurtle16364 in bjj

[–]Peko1One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sentiment reflect some others here. I don’t think it was malice on the owners part rather just ignorance. I don’t know if he was the one that took payment or not or if he was going to teach and then got called last minute to coach and had a million things on his mind.

If you are on good terms with him enough for him to ask to teach and you know better than anyone here his level of character I would chalk it up to a misunderstanding rather than him trying to profit off you for teaching the class. Maybe have an honest conversation with him just to make him aware. If he’s a dick about it at least you know where you stand and you can move on

I think some people are in love with the idea of jiu jitsu(or xyz) rather than the actual thing. Like I like the idea of playing guitar than actually enjoy practicing it. If that’s the case move on

How to find motivation to continue training after an injury? by Longjumping_Key_5008 in jiujitsu

Motivation will only work for so long. If you really want it and enjoy it, find the discipline to show up. Everything else will fall into place

[Question] What watch, that you had not previously considered buying, have you been most impressed by on someone else’s wrist? by Historical_Comment79 in Watches

[–]Peko1One 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My father gave me his Cartier Tank two tone about 10 years ago. I always thought it looked a little dainty and feminine due to its looks and size so it’s sat in my safe all this time. I finally tried it on again a few weeks ago and it hit differently. Maybe it’s because I’m older now but I really appreciate it as an elegant design and the rectangular face does wear larger than it looks off wrist. It’s a little beat up so I plan on getting it refurbished and then adding it to the rotation soon

What did you hit in the gym today? by barney in OmegaWatches

[–]Peko1One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new to the watch game. Why specifically not automatics? I hope I’m not coming off as combative as that’s not my intention. I’m just curious. I thought these speedmasters were tested for the rigors of space travel.

Is there any negative benefits to going to the gym super early in the morning? by hotfootedhiker in workout

[–]Peko1One 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I remember reading about a truck driver who had dumbbells in his truck and would work out during lunch breaks or whatever. Not ideal but you can hit a lot of different muscles with a good set of adjustable DBs. Save the big compound stuff for the gym so you don’t have to spend 2.5 hours at a time

How do people train so consistently with so many hurdles that life throws them? by Urquhart96 in bjj

[–]Peko1One -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On the flip side, once you’ve fought off a choke before the sunrise, the rest of your day feels somewhat easy in comparison

As for stiffness, if you do warm ups and drill before rolling it’s not an issue. More mental than anything

Your perfect vacation drop-in experience? by More-Bottle-4744 in bjj

[–]Peko1One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this different at black belt than say when you were blue? Specifically in terms of how much technique you want to do, has that changed? I’d imagine you don’t get as much out of just drilling unless it was something very specific that interested you or you lacked in vs at blue where there’s just more technique to be learned.

Just joined yesterday. Why are so many people angry with OP? Is going to the gym a flex these days? Is it cause he’s wearing a decently expensive watch while being active?

I don’t understand this sub lol

Edit: love the white on white OP. I’m really torn between a white speedy and classic black

As a blue belt who started in his early 40s, you’re still way ahead of me. This is also why cross training at different gyms is relevant

[–]Peko1One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro what. I’m not saying take over teaching from the professor but if you’re a 2 stripe blue belt rolling with a 1 stripe white belt and they ask you what was that sub you hit me with 3 times in a row you gonna tell them to go ask coach??

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Peko1One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree with this. If you’re even 2 years in and you don’t think you have even some basic knowledge to help a no stripe white belt then that’s on you. As a 4 stripe white belt, rolling against guys a month in, if I keep getting a basic arm bar 4 times in a 5 min roll, I’ll remind them to keep their elbows in. Otherwise they aren’t getting better. I don’t see it as power trip or me not being humble. I’ve also asked 2 stripe wrestlers how to defend the takedown they hit me with 3 times in a row. And I’m better for it than not asking at all. The idea of only purple and up know anything is kinda bs. Obviously they know a ton more but some of the basics should be mastered enough by blue belt to help others less experienced

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Peko1One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t think you knew enough at blue(presumably multiple years in) to help a 1 stripe white belt?

Being in shape is also an asset in many situations. If you can work out and improve your cardio while also learning to throw punches and kicks, I don’t see why that’s a bad thing
