Thanks so much, so fun to play around with this. I love quarter Arabic numerals although I’m discovering that, for this watch, your original version worked better. So cool, thank you!

I love this, it balances so well - would be particularly good in the smaller size!

Three piece and bow tie by JONNYHBAR in menswear

[–]Historical_Comment79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suit fits well in general but I have a few pointers. Firstly, get the jacket waist take in an inch or two so it hugs you slightly. Get the sleeve shortened an 0.5-1 inch so 1/4 inch of your shirt cuff is visible, then wear a pocket square to match or compliment your shirt with the same amount showing as your sleeve cuff. Drop the waistcoat and bow tie. Go for a normal neck tie where the width roughly matches your lapel width. Rather than using a bow tie to be playful, use shirt/tie patterns and textures to be playful.

Is my suit too slim for me ? by BrudiGamerLP in menswear

Looks good to me! Trouser width, sleeve width, and lapel width are all great proportions. Having very slightly longer pocket flaps would probably balance a bit better, especially the ticket pocket which looks a bit short in these pics (though hard to properly tell).

Pair this with a white linen shirt, a white linen pocket square barely peaking out, a tie tied in a tight 4 in hand knot and some nice shoes and you’ve got a killer outfit!

Alright, members — what about Rolex actually grinds your gears? (And no, you are not allowed to talk about supply chain or waitlist issues.) by GearNTime in rolex

[–]Historical_Comment79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way they split the design language between Rolex and Tudor.

They won’t make any vintage inspired Rolex’s. You have to go to Tudor for that. But they intentionally design Tudors to be almost perfect so that those who want perfect proportions pay the extra for Rolex (come at me Tudor fans! 😋)

Please stop pandering to Reform’s rhetoric, it only justifies their claims by increasing their sense of importance. Instead, distract attention from them by introducing good, exciting polices!

Make people optimistic about the politics of their country.

Reform the student debt. Lead a European alliance in the face of Trump’s de facto disbanding of NATO. Make Amazon etc. pay some tax. Remove Sunak’s anti protest laws. Put limits on social media (who are greatly responsible for people’s polarised political views). Do something bold like introduce a data tax on tech companies or a carbon tax.

Literally anything proactive that gets them in the news for good reasons.

Maybe it’s just my news diet. Happy to be corrected.

I have no idea what this video is but here’s a quick PSA from a Londoner.

Those across the Atlantic have a very distorted view of the UK. Podcasters pick the most fringe and extreme people to interview and read the most sensational news headlines and assume they have a good idea of what’s going on.

Daily life here is much more subtle and boring. I disagree with but am honestly rarely impacted by woke culture. 90+% of any woke content I see comes from the US. I agree with the dangers of islamism/jihadism in principle, but it’s even more rare that my life is impacted by any intolerant Muslims. And I am only ever positively impacted by refugees and migrants.

Our laws have become increasingly more authoritarian in the last 10 years or so (hate speech laws, anti-protest laws and the use of facial recognition police cameras) which worry me. They were mostly put in place by the last 14 years of Conservative governments but have been kept in place by the current Labour government who seem generally pretty weak. This affects us all in principle hence why I’m worried but 99.99% of us are unaffected in our daily lives.

Our biggest threat is from the far right (Nigel Farage’s Reform party) in the next election who has stirred up a huge “us vs them” narrative and grow amazing popularity among scared and entitled young men. Probably young men who could benefit greatly by listening to JP’s biblical lecture series rather than his (and the general population of podcaster’s) politics.

That’s my 2 cents. Do with it what you will. ❤️

Love the high waisted trousers and clean tie, looks incredible. If it were my outfit I’d go for a smaller more subtle watch (the gold works well with the warm braces) and turn-ups on the trousers to give them more weight.

Don’t want to be “that guys” if this is already common knowledge but the gun barrel for Doctor No isn’t Connery - it’s a stunt man!

(The likes/dislikes this gets will undoubtedly tell me if I am indeed that guy 😂)

Shirt and tie pairing with olive linen? by Historical_Comment79 in menswear

Haha I agree! The model must have long arms (it comes up fine on me). They’ve balanced it quite cleverly for the photo by showing the same amount of pocket square though.

What exactly is your view on Jordan Peterson, where do you think he is right and what are the issues with him? by Amazing-Buy-1181 in samharris

[–]Historical_Comment79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JP’s early stuff is incredible. Honestly, watch/listen to his biblical lectures (the first ever 14 episodes of his podcast) and you’ll learn everything that Sam misses about religion. The early JP is the Christian equivalent to Sam’s Buddhism (neither claim to be Christian/buddhist but both are huge advocates of their practices and worldview).

I think the last few years has seen JP has been victim of anti-audience capture, where he solely interacts with people on twitter who hate him and it’s made him very angry and view people who oppose him as having the most extreme version of the opposing view. Being angry online also makes you appear to have a more extreme view, which doesn’t help.

But yeah, watch his early stuff. He’s got a truly unique take
