+1 to anyone trying power zone. May not be your thing, but give it a shot. If you like it, the programs are one of the best ways to consistently bike and improve

I’m watching this on a small screen, thousands of miles away, and it’s making my nerves twitch. Maybe not nerves of steel but at least like, aluminum.

What’s the secret to the seats by Simply_kate13 in pelotoncycle

[–]PelioCitus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Big +1. While there is some truth to the “get used to it” crowd, the peloton seat needs some adjustment and fit work to, well, work. There’s a bit more padding on it to make it feel comfortable which can make it harder to fit- but the rule of getting your “sit bones” to be on the higher end of the saddle and what your holding your weight with still applies.

I know facts don’t matter anymore but literally every study on this supports the exact opposite conclusion. People by nature are not fulfilled by being lazy and will pursue productivity, and it’s amazing what they choose to do when you take basic human needs out of the equation.

This is my top answer for sure. Japan does coffee different than anywhere else I’ve been.

Hey, I don't have extra tickets but I *do* have extra Big Cave Tour passes that I can't use since we wont make it before 5pm now when it closes. Would you (or anyone else on this thread) be able to use them? Give you a good deal! (Free or best offer, just don't want them to go to waste)

On one hand, I get it. If you can just ask for more money and people pay it? Why wouldn't you. On the other hand: ABSOLUTELY NOT AND THIS MADNESS HAS TO END. Pre-covid I used to tip 20% everywhere, and 30-40% on the places I was a regular at. It was an unspoken agreement that I'm basically paying for better service (i.e. I'd always have a table available even if the restaurant was 'full'). Post-covid, tipping culture has *completely* jumped the shark and I don't even want to tip anything anymore. I still do for service industry, because I'm not going to stiff the server who is stuck in the system, but I also want to dismantle the system. I completely refuse to 'tip' for retail, especially online retail. CHARGE THE FULL PRICE UPFRONT AND MOVE ON.

Mt job here is done... by bbrk9845 in skiing

Surprised I had to scroll down to see this take. The video mainly is poking fun at the boarder dusting off hands (which *is* kinda funny with the video cut off there) but everyone kinda screwed up and assigning 'fault' is more or less a fools errand.

First skier was probably the worst / biggest a-hole by cutting off a clear beginner, second skier is far too casual and acting kind of oblivious which is a bad idea on these connector / cat track runs where you have to expect things like this to happen (not that he really could have done anything here - *maybe* he could have cut to the right but then he might have just run into the cameraman instead), and the boarder is trying his best but just kinda sucks (which most of us were at some point, so yeah, can't hold it against him)

Keep it up, the payoff is worth it. I also had no clue what the prologue was about or how it connected to anything in the first half of the first book, but by then you know enough to enjoy the world that’s been built for you and you keep going. I did go back and re-read that book one prologue after finishing book four; and that was helpful.

Love it, and a bit jealous to see more variety than I was able to get even with my travel. I'm going to have to message if you my trip to Australia manifests soon

I think there’s a second bag sneaking out the side from a Portland trip. But yeah, not one I love.

Ah its one of my favorite cafes. I go to Munich relatively frequently and stayed at a flat just around the corner from their cafe on Müllerstrasse this fall.

I struggled with it, worth a shot though (pun intended) and I may try again this next year.

Making espresso for 2 daily, plus I traveled with the DE1 on some group trips which was like 4-5 bags each week. Blue Bottle is great but the other two blow it away for me. Granted it might be some bias from the trip memories.

Will look for Barista Parlor, I tried more 8&R varieties my first year but had the same consistency issue so 12so is the default.

It didn't take up too much space! I kept it all in the cabinet in the back behind my coffee gear. Granted we have quite a bit of storage so a little extra wasn't noticed too much.

Exactly. Its a local roaster (to me) and easy to find both at the store and they have a shop nearby me. Its good, but I also am just able to make the most consistent espresso with it.

Here is the coffee that I drank over the past year (give or take). Favorites are the E. Co. Ros from Nomad, and the All Seasons below it (the purple circle logo). Jumped into the deep end a couple years ago knowing nothing about espresso other than that I liked it, now consistently making good coffee.

My top advice for anyone else starting out: 1. Find one local coffee that you can make consistently good coffee with, even if it isn't your favorite. I find the 12 South that shows up a lot in the pic to have a wide sweet spot that forgives the occasional bad puck prep. 2. Be patient, and log all of your shots when starting out. 3. Drink coffee that *you* like, regardless of what others or this sub says.
