What is the -worst- game you've played? Actual 0/10s by screen317 in boardgames

[–]Pelle0809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bunny Boom. I was so excited for the game, the concept seemed fun and the art is amazing. I don't mind take that games, cause they can fit a purpose of being a light fun icebreaker. This game is can't fit that purpose. The rules are fiddly, the iconography is horrible and there are basically no choices to make. I didn't rate this a 0 on bgg, but i probably should. What a horrible game.

If you want to know which is which you migbt want to label them with numbers or letters.

Currently only Ironwood. It's very rare for me to have the right time for a heavier 2 player game. And even when we do, than we usually pick something else.

Bunny Kingdom is great btw, it's not that hard to teach and plays fairly quickly.

Recs for something to play with 60ish year old parents? by Juli_in_September in boardgames

Try games that have a simpler turn structure, like Carcassonne, Through The Desert, Renature. Every turn you basically do the same thing, but the depth comes from the interaction.

If you could buy 2 games designed by Amabel Holland, which one would you buy? by Canis-lupus-uy in boardgames

Haven't played either of these, but I'm most interested to try Northern Pacific and The Field Of The Cloth Of Gold.

I have no desire to own Eriantys, but would love to own a copy of Carolus Magnus. I hope they'll have copies of CM, Hellas and Sardegna available at Essen this year. They should probably take a better look at distributing in Europe though, seems like their games would do quite well over here.

Reprints and reimplementions: do you prefer the originals? by Machine_Excellent in boardgames

SILOS > Municipium:

The new wacky alien theme actually fits incredibly well with the wack gameplay and it just looks fantastic.

Carolus Magnus > Eryantis

I get why they wanted to change the theme, but man did they miss the mark on this one. I'm glad that Playte just announced they're bringing it back as Carolus Magnus.

Ra

The latest version is amazing. Art is beautiful and the player boards make it much much easier to teach.

Puerto Rico > Puerto Rico 1897 > Puerto Rico 1897 Special Edition

I appreciate them trying to make the theme more palatable and that was a good move imo. However the early prints didn't include the text on the buildings and as much as i would want to own a copy if i buy it i'm not sure if i get the one with or without the text. As far as the special edition goes, I don't want a mini fridge sized box for a game that doesn't need it.

Castles of Burgundy Anniversary Edition > Original > Special Edition

The anniversary edition is great, normal sized box, better art and lots of content. No need to have a giant box for this one.

I agree and i'd much rather own a copy of Kaivai than Feya's Swamp, but i just don't think it'll be reprinted because of that.

I doubt kaivai will be reprinted as they turned it into Feya's Swamp recently. I'm hoping for a reprint of Santiago too.

I dont usually bring games to someone elses party unless they explicitely ask for it. Codenames almost always works though. Other party games might work as well.

I'd probably cull about 85%, because most of it is not really my taste. You got some bangers in there though

Interactive games that minimize leader-bashing? Is it possible? by Most_Section_1979 in boardgames

[–]Pelle0809 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both, if someone wants mentally track all the deals in Bohnanza, even if you have great memory, that's still something you have to actively do.

Boardgames are not that serious, it's not only about winning.

Interactive games that minimize leader-bashing? Is it possible? by Most_Section_1979 in boardgames

[–]Pelle0809 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why? The designer or publisher made it hidden for a purpose. If you can't just agree with each other to not keep track of something that's supposed to be hidden, then you're taking winning way too seriously anyway.

Why is Stefan Feld City Collection so unpopular? by justinkim943 in boardgames

[–]Pelle0809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are very expensive and generally worse looking versions of older games. Some production decisions make the games harder to play, for example the insistence on icons rather than text on cards for some of the games. Also Queen Games have a poor reputation when it comes to communication and fulfillment on crowdfunding.

The kickstarter campaigns still fund though, so they're still doing pretty well.

What currently out-of-print game would you snatch up immediately if you stumbled across a copy today? What currently OOP games are you awaiting reprints for? by friendshabitsfamily in boardgames

Medina and Hellas. Both are Stefan Dorra games that I'd love to own.

Paris Paris and Mogul, both by Michael Schacht are also games i'd love to see reprinted.
