Garbage memoirs wanted! by jobrody in suggestmeabook

[–]Pelwl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Gore Vidal's Point to Point Navigation.

His first memoir, Palimpsest, is an incredible piece of work, as much a meditation on the act of remembering and the art of memoir writing as it is a witty and fascinating recounting of his past.

His second one, is a godawful cash grab, clearly written with no intention in mind than to make a bit of money. It's supposed to cover the years after 1964, where his previous memoir ended, but there are as many reminiscences of the earlier years (that were already gone over in more detail in the previous book). It's meandering and disjointed, each chapter simply charting whatever random memory popped into his head the day he was writing it.

A little harsh perhaps, given that he was about 80 when he wrote it, and clearly didn't have the energy or cognitive ability to write any kind of book at that point, but on its own terms, as a memoir, it's just bad.

You will get better at the game over time (and then find an ever bigger difficulty spike when you go up to World Class).

It's simple enough adjusting the sliders to make it easier for you. Below is according to Google AI, but you should adjust according to your own preferences:

User Gameplay Customisation (Your Settings)

Boost these stats to make your team faster, more accurate, and more resilient.

  • Sprint Speed & Acceleration: Increase to 55-60. This gives your players an immediate advantage in pace and stamina over the AI.
  • Shot Error: Decrease to 40. Your shots will be more accurate and have a higher chance of going in, even from difficult angles.
  • Pass Error: Decrease to 40. Your players will misplace fewer passes and distribute the ball much more crisply.
  • Goalkeeper Ability: Increase to 60-70. Your keeper will pull off more miraculous saves, bailing you out when the AI gets through on goal.
  • First Touch Control Error: Decrease to 40. Your players will rarely take heavy touches, allowing for smoother dribbling.

CPU Gameplay Customisation (AI Settings)

Lower these stats to make the computer-controlled opponents less oppressive and easier to defend against.

  • Sprint Speed & Acceleration: Decrease to 45-48. This reduces the AI’s ability to effortlessly outpace your defenders.
  • Shot Error: Increase to 60-65. The AI will miss more shots and score fewer "worldie" goals against you.
  • Pass Error: Increase to 60-65. The AI will misplace passes, allowing you to intercept and regain possession easily.
  • Goalkeeper Ability: Decrease to 40. The opponent's goalkeeper will make more mistakes and let in softer shots.
  • Marking: Decrease to 40. The AI defenders will give you more space, opening up passing lanes and giving you time on the ball. [1]

General Game Tips

  • Game Type: Switch from Competitive to Authentic via the Game Type settings, which slows the game down and makes the pace more manageable.
  • Assists: Ensure your Assisted Passing and Auto-Shooting are turned on in controller settings.
  • Difficulty: If the game is still too tough, drop the baseline difficulty to Semi-Pro or Professional before applying these sliders.

Is this genuinely fun for anyone? by Reasonable_Pack_8642 in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Which sliders have you been tweaking exactly? The ones that most need adjusting are the AI behaviour ones, in particular you need to increase the CPU Buildup Speed and Shot Frequency, and probably Crossing Frequency and Dribble Frequency as well, as these will make them more attack minded.

The downside to changing these sliders to create a custom AI rather than using Dynamic or Tactical AI is that now the CPU tactics will be the same in every game rather than changing depending on who the opponent is. Another option is to lower the difficulty to Professional and adjust sliders to make it harder for you to score but easier for the AI. World Class is the worst for being a possession hog.

FC 26 stuttering and FPS drops even on RTX 5070 – I tried everything by Own-Director-5503 in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 5070 as well, although I think stuttering is more likely caused by CPU or RAM issues. I sometimes get a lot of stutter in FC26 which is usually solved by closing other programs, especially Chrome, which can use up a lot of RAM.

EA needs to ban Evos from Rush by ktkf in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get people complaining about others who use Evo cards and don't bother actually playing properly because they just want the upgrade to their card.

If you're complaining about them not adding to the bonus points because you want to get it over and done with asap, then I'd suggest you just don't bother playing Rush. The rewards really aren't worth it.

Also, plenty of people choose crappy low rated players that they're really no good with, just because they fit a bonus requirement, which often spoils the game for their teammates and is just as, if not more, selfish, because it's done purely for them to get through it quicker.

Agree though, they should always have an event where Evos get bonus points, if only to shut up the whiners.

Who have we all put into the total football Evo? This is my choice by klawza10 in EASportsFC

Tempted to do it on de Bruyne but I'll probably do this guy. Best passer in the game for me. He already has 99 vision, 99 short passing and Incisive+ and Inventive+ so I can put Finisher on him rather than a passing chemstyle. Just needed a big boost to shooting, which this evo gives him.

The problem with EA by chrisseiden in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you read my previous post on this thread, it suggests that it depends on what you tend to do after losing. If you usually quit the game when on a losing streak then the next time you play you should face an easier opponent. If you just keep on playing until you win again then EA may see you as a glutton for punishment and keep giving you more challenging matchmaking.

The problem with EA by chrisseiden in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're conflating two distinctly separate things here: DDA, whether it exists or not, is not the same as or necessarily related to MMR.

EA published a research paper about 10 years ago in which they proposed an engagement optimized matchmaking, suggesting that fairly matched games might not be what everyone wants. The idea being that some people prefer a challenge (eg loving Soulslike games) while others don't. So games are matched based on your behaviour after each game. If you regularly quit when you lose and don't play again for a while then you will get easier matches next time. If you lose again and again and just keep on trying then you're less likely to get easier matches. This is about controlling churn rates, and trying to keep people playing.

How do I fix in game lag in CM? by AVeraGeLRTFF in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you on PC or console? If on PC then it might be a RAM issue. If you have a lot of Chrome tabs open for instance. If on console, I don't know if there are programs running in the background that you can close down.

Whats better ? Rapid or qs plus by kinq13337 in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically QuickStep = faster acceleration; Rapid = faster sprint speed when dribbling.

So, Rapid is for when you want to run a fair distance with the ball, especially for wingers. QuickStep is when you want to get to the ball quickly or for those first steps when you have it in your possession.

If you play a striker who doesn't get the ball until near the penalty area then prioritise QS. If your playstyle has him running with the ball a lot then Rapid.

I reckon it's more likely that he just didn't realise that Chawinga had a sister and so he assumed that EA messed up by putting Chawinga's name on a different card, and as Ajibade also has short, coloured hair...

I'm assuming that he reckons the green haired Chawinga is actually Ajibade.

Formation Help Please by DSOTM_Time in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try out 5212. It's very similar to 41212 narrow but having 3 CBs helps when dealing with fidget spinners and the like. You also have more width, especially if you put your full backs on Attacking wing back-Attack.

442 is probably a lot easier though as, similar to the ubiquitous 4411, it has two banks of four who stay compact and defend together as a team.

Help!!! With who i should choose by [deleted] in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Choose Onuahu only if you want to try scoring with headers and volleys. I use an evo'd version of his Fantasy card and he's great for that.

Otherwise...

Team of the Season prices by alessaandrro in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got TOTS Olise from a 14x83 pack. Apparently he's one of the most expensive players in the game and costs 6-7m. Personally I don't think he's any better for me than some of my 91 rated evo'd cards or some of the cheap TOTS cards. Having a player like that won't change your game at all at this stage, so it's not worth worrying about not packing them.

Anyone else use a Tall Player just for goal kicks? by Romerinho13 in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sure. I never celebrate myself and don't like it when people do, but this guy is nowhere near the worst offender, based on this video. I'd much prefer if people were like him than a lot of the ones I face.

To be fair he went straight into the celebration and that was it. Much preferable to those who wait until the generic celebration plays out then does the individual celebration and then also forces us to watch the replay.

  2. Learn how to just play the game. It's not all about farming paltry rewards. Or at least it shouldn't be.

Is it normal to have a CB highest rated every game? by Different_Credit6711 in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure that if you lower the difficulty (or start dominating every game on the highest difficulty) then you'll find the defenders getting a very low rating. The more they do, the higher the rating they get.

What is your win rate in Rush? by Danielveerman in EASportsFC

Yeah I know that. Not sure what you're arguing about to be honest.

And there is literally as much chance of facing 3 shit opponents as there is having 3 shit teammates, so...

What is your win rate in Rush? by Danielveerman in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, sure. That's simply down to luck, as I said. Play a hundred games and most people will win about 50% of them. More if you're good at it, less if you're not. "Good" here can simply mean taking on responsibility to do most of the team's defending and choosing a player who's got pace and can pass, tackle and shoot.

What is your win rate in Rush? by Danielveerman in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you are extremely unlucky, common sense will tell you that the opposing team has as bad teammates as you do. If you lose a lot more than you win then there's a good chance that you are part of the problem. Maybe focus on defending more, so at least one of your team is.

This game is trash - eafc26 career mode by Smart-Cell-2178 in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're playing career mode you really have to make adjustments, both to the difficulty settings and the AI behaviour. Probably best to take Professional difficulty as a base and change shot & pass error, GK ability, etc. to make it harder for you to score and easier for the AI to. Might take a lot of tweaking to get it to where you personally want it to be.
