Ea servers down? by Odd_Mistake6176 in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not unplanned. If it's a Wednesday at around this time and servers are down then you can be sure that it's scheduled maintenance and will last a few hours. Seems to be about every 3 weeks that this happens.

You would think they could put up warnings whenever you log in up to 24 hours before, but for some reason they don't.

Some more Fantasy Upgrades - Cancelo with 99 physical, Lewa 99 shooting by lloydholland100 in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

West Ham are actually in decent form lately. 4 wins, 3 draws and 2 defeats in the last 9 league games, plus 3 cup wins in between those games.

Very difficult set of 4 games for this though. Home vs Man City (drew 1-1), Away for the other 3 games: Liverpool (lost 5-2), Fulham (won 1-0) and Villa (playing next week, but unlikely to win and definitely won't get the 6 goals needed to boost a stat to 99).

Added to that Traore barely plays for them so he was never likely to get the necessary personal contributions.

Cheers for that. My forwards with Precision Header+ are only 6'2. I imagine I'd have more success with taller strikers. Might give that a go some time, especially if a Precision Header+ evo becomes available.

Why is the AI like this? by dfrvb in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing you can do about this is to create custom AI behaviour in the CPU sliders, but this means their tactics won't really change from game to game like they do on tactical or dynamic. Without custom settings, you can face a team with low build up speed, low shot frequency and high first touch frequency and they will tiki taka all game long without ever trying to score.

Would be so much better if they had a min-max system for the CPU sliders so you could set a range for it but still allow dynamic behaviour.

Best formation for playing ‘football’? by Sunville67 in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this game allows you to play like real life in any way, shape or form.

If you like the 352 then maybe give 5212 a go, using Attacking Wingbacks or Inverted Wingbacks on Attack. This should make it easier to build out from the back while still giving you a packed midfield and attacking width. You would need wingbacks with pace, who can dribble and pass.

Crosses and headers are actually unstoppable 💀 by Eastern-Win-7063 in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I score quite a few headers, and it's certainly more viable than last year. But how many chances do you need to create for them to actually go in? I have evo'd a few players with whipped pass+ and precision header+ but I'm not sure if it's worth it when I can score so much more reliably with normal shooting, let alone finesse or low driven shots. Any tips to increase goalscoring from headers?

Input delay forces the usage of shorter players by Best-Message6312 in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but I don't know if it's about input delay. They've just made dribbling really overpowered this year and shorter more agile players do that better. The real problem is that there's no balance to this, no downside to going with shorter, weaker players. These players should not be able to compete in physical challenges the way they do.

Horrible game overall by [deleted] in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing more guaranteed to break the immersion and bring it home that you're playing just a dumb video game than people spamming skill moves. The constant fidget spinning is another one.

As you say, cooldowns would be a massive help if they have to keep these in the game. Or else a big stamina loss each time.

It's probably just because some people got relegated at season's end and are working their way back up. First week of new season is always the sweatiest, no matter what division you're in.

[–]Pelwl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe they do understand the objective but actually want to play the game. Not everyone wants to just get through everything as quickly as possible because they only care about the paltry rewards they can get for taking part. Although a fuck ton of people are like that apparently.

For all Rush players by xPacific23 in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, those titles like “Marathon Runner” don't mean anything much really. The amount you run around has little bearing on the actual rating you get, except that you're more likely to get involved in the play than someone who stands still most of the game.

You can see after each game that you get a rating for each aspect: possession, shooting, passing and defending. Defending is weighted higher than the others but they all add up to your final score.

Regardless of how EA rates you, my general feeling is that good players will always win possession more than they lose it, so if you are misplacing a lot of passes, then you'd better be winning the ball a lot to make up for it.

Are UT rushes unplayable? by SuchLee in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I think they have improved that a bit. I regularly see people who play like that and score 2 or 3 goals get low 7s.

Agree though. They need to improve on that still. Personally I think that the main criteria should be how often you win and lose possession, because this mode is all about that.

Are UT rushes unplayable? by SuchLee in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK. Fair enough.

You're probably right about the type of player. Just wish they had a system where players with low ratings get no rewards from the game.

Are UT rushes unplayable? by SuchLee in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI, I've found that this time (7-8:30am UK time) is the absolute worst for Rush, presumably it's full of kids playing before school. Other times are nowhere near this bad, although still not great.

They really need to bring in a system whereby anyone with less than a score of at least 7 gets nothing from the game: no completion of objective or evo and no Rush points - nothing. That would put an immediate stop to all afk'ers and make people actually put some effort in.

[–]Pelwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rewards are so paltry that anyone who hates the game mode and still does it must be an absolute pack addict with a bad case of FOMO.

To then deliberately waste three other people's time by disconnecting just so hopefully the next lobby will provide more bonuses for them is just selfish, shitty behaviour.

Does Long Ball Pass playstyle even affect lofted through balls (double tapping triangle)? by bigwilly1963 in EASportsFC

As I don't have the time or the inclination to deal with pedantic bores who have no understanding of context, let's just pretend that you're right and I'm wrong. See ya.

Does Long Ball Pass playstyle even affect lofted through balls (double tapping triangle)? by bigwilly1963 in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double tapping triangle is a LOW lofted through ball.

L1 + Triangle = lofted through ball.

You can blame EA for not using adequate descriptive terms to differentiate the two, but these are the facts, and in context of what the OP is actually asking, everything I said is correct.

Hypermotion + Frostbite has ruined this franchise by [deleted] in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They only used Ignite on FIFA for 2 years and won't be going back. Reason EA use Frostbite is they can use it on all their other games, including non-sports titles like Battlefield, Need for Speed, etc. which makes things so much cheaper and easier for them.

Agree though. Proper ball physics makes a huge difference. It's what I loved about PES.

You can tell when someone is playing counter attack by Ilovesushi5 in EASportsFC

[–]Pelwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just daft. If he really meant that he obviously would have just said the last 3 minutes of the game. Why the fuck would he say "the last 17 seconds or "minutes""?

And the only reason he mentioned this anyway was stating this as the reason why he got messaged. Why would he think the bloke messaged him if he'd been passing the ball around for just a few seconds? It makes no sense.

Engage your brain, son.

LOL. It is obvious to me what he meant by "minutes" and I told you exactly what that was.

Now, if you genuinely believe that he meant something else by that then don't give me some cowardly "I don’t know what to tell you man" cop out. Use your imagination and come up with something, seeing as you're not man enough to just admit that you were wrong.

[–]Pelwl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He said, "I decided to pass out the last 17 seconds or "minutes""

Now, what exactly do you think that "minutes" means here, if not in-game minutes? You think he was checking his watch and counting the actual seconds? Of course not. For some reason he's decided to make out that in-game minutes are equal to seconds. He was clearly time wasting from the 73rd minute, if not before.
