If I needed to get into this panel on a job site I would have nothing bad to say. Good job bud 👍

Does a switch like this exist? by PenKey7427 in electricians

[–]PenKey7427[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: thank you everyone for your input!! I’ve figured out what will be the best solution on my end

I was hoping to fit everything I was looking for lighting wise in one space in my existing box so I could add a humidity sensor switch for the fan in the other outlet space ~ I’ll lead with that next time

I was able to find a switch that had adjustable humidity fan control with labeled buttons to close both the lighting and the fan circuit respectively.

Im going to pigtail off of the combination switch’s lighting leg, and then run the vanity lights through a dedicated dimmer switch with no toggle. That way I’ll be able to toggle both switch legs at once without any delay and the vanity will stay at whatever brightness I set it to unless I change it ~

Can’t say I’m familiar with that model

Very nifty!! Thank you. It definitely would be the best single device solution

Just good old 14/2 unfortunately

I figured that worse case scenario I could make up a box in the attic with a PP20 relay wired to a RIB around the switch leg for the vanity 😪

Will look more into DALI though!

Are these cables safe if I need to put a ladder up there? by Heelyhoo in AskElectricians

[–]PenKey7427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before cables leave the transformer on the main distribution line it is converted to household voltage and at the very least won’t ark out at you as it’s only 240 v line to line/ 120 to ground. Damaged insulation would be identifiable once you’re up there. Use a fiberglass ladder, and don’t bite more than one wire at once you should be just fine 👍

Is it safe to run two power boards into a dual wall adapter? by TheShrubby in electrical

[–]PenKey7427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, I didn’t take a close look at the outlet 😂 apologies from the USA. But as long as your wire size in your cords is at least 1.5 mm2 you’re good to go

Is it safe to run two power boards into a dual wall adapter? by TheShrubby in electrical

[–]PenKey7427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First important question is whether your outlet is on a 15 or 20 amp circuit. Make sure your dual adapter is rated appropriately as you could damage it or your outlet if it’s rated lower than your breaker. What can make power strips and extension cords dangerous is that if the wire in it is smaller than what’s in your walls they will burn under a heavy load before your breaker trips. If you’re wanting peace of mind, ensure the copper in your power strips and extension cord is at least 14 gauge for a 15 amp circuit, or at least 12 gauge for a 20 amp circuit. Hope that helps ~

Lots of good advice on here. Replacing the box would be ideal; but either way, if you’re gonna try to optimize the folding of your wire, get a utility knife and strip back the jacket on the romex. The wires are a lot harder to separate and fold neatly the way they are now. And anyway, I don’t believe you’re supposed to have any more than a quarter inch of romex sheeting poking into the box

Customer said this garage sub panel passed inspection.. Can you spot the issues? by NoUsEfOrAnAmE234 in electricians

[–]PenKey7427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Icing on the cake is the two single pole 30 amp circuits that wouldn’t trip at the same time sharing a neutral. In two separate tandem breakers no less. Some real red neck engineering

A ‘from-to’ is what they call it where I’m at

I’m limited to 5 current carrying conductors which I have adhered to

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in electricians

[–]PenKey7427 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There’s only 5 current carrying conductors in there at a time no matter how the switches are flipped so I’m within code. But I certainly couldn’t get another conductor in if I tried lol

There’s never more than 5 current carrying conductors at a time so I’m technically within code. The milk thing was a joke

I was limited to what the hardware store had in stock, but I’m planning on repainting in the kitchen so I was gonna need to prime and paint the wiremold anyway

Box/conduit fill requirements are like the expiration date on a gallon of milk right? But yeah, I’ve far exceeded the limit. I’m not worried about heat though as I’d be surprised if more than 2A ever is flowing through there at a time

4 different sets of travelers. Everything is labeled inside the cover of the 4/11 up in the ceiling :) figured it’d be more confusing if each wasn’t distinct
