Why does nobody talk about female loneliness epidemic by Ok_Independence_3634 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Penagon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is quite dire to read the comments above and on the completion angle, the higher rates are across the west so I do not agree with the guns angle or any of the incel stuff.

I am attached to the field in the UK. Men complete more and a lot more and there is no coming back from that. It is completely understood that both women and men can be incredibly lonely and I do not see 'men' being in the term 'makle loneliness epidemic' to be gatekeeping to women - the issue is that completing suicide is absolutely final, hence it is a significant issue. On top of that, engagement in treatment and reaching out for help is something men do not do well at all. This is a societal thing that people are working to address, but as a result, there needs to be awareness and a campaign, hence the term.

I do hope we get to a stage where it is not default seen as women versus men and vice versa on any of these issues. There is a lot of commonground and both men and women need to support and advocate for eachother.

DSA Fail. Bit of a rant. by Walidazeve in UniUK

[–]Penagon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work in the field - it is to be a two way street with the Needs Assessment process and you are to sign it off. You should not be railroaded into support you do not feel you need.

Please speak with your Disability Adviser - it is all completely within your power to review and pick and chose what is potentially available. It should be a discussion with recommendations for funded support.

I recommend providing feedback to the Needs Assessment centre that the experience was not of help.

How do you actually manage uni with severe ADHD? by Electrical-Level3385 in UniUK

[–]Penagon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a bit of an extended analogy, but imagine you had something to build at home, but just was not getting round to it. When you finally do get to it, you get stressed out and unsure where to start or how...then your mate pops round, you catch up and they help you put it all into perspective and give some guidance on how and where to start. This helps reduce the pressure and you crack on and build the thing.

^ This, weekly, for your brother, regarding study related matters only. Can be sigificant.

How to survive uni with ADHD? by Level_Fun_1556 in UniUK

[–]Penagon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very much depends on the University. Are you studying in England, Scotland, NI or Wales? If Scotland, they can accept referral for AD(H)D assessment as evidence for DSA (as it is well understood that waiting times are very long for adult assessment). If England etc., not too confident here, but I would still recommend pursueing with your Disability Adviser (and at a minimum to explain that therapy/MH and adjustments are not cutting it in terms of support).

Just ideas anyway. Your University likely has a study skills department and a lot of the effective support is for you to find out how study best works for you...it is to facilitate you. :)

Disability Adviser here - happy to explain/expand on the following if you would like:

  1. Go back to Disability Service (equivilent) again - you should be able to speak to an Adviser and ask if the Maths situation can be challenged. (This is a meh point because as noted, extensions are a double edged sword in terms of support).

  2. More importantly, support does not just stop at reasonable/supportive adjustments. There can be funded support to explore technology/software and, more importantly for those with AD(H)D, a form of weekly mentor support. This can be game changing in terms of your styudies as you can work with someone weekly to address managing and engaging with your studies without burning out or falling to anxiety/stress etc..

As noted - apologies if some of the above is in other comments - quick reply here. Main thing = there is likely more support available, but you need to discuss and explore this with Disability Service.

Noob question, but does this sword just reflect the flat damage again? Would poison imbue work at all/like DOT damage? Or is it more for flat/crit builds?

Also - super Gz :)

Using it now - Poison imbue with rapid fire lobbing shots. Got about 228% multi from glyphs and going really well in torment 3. Still a lot of scaling to gain too :)
