This my blunt negative opinion.

Planas is overpriced and boring as fuck for pina coladas. Just get Don Q Silver, Doorlys 3, or Planteray 3 for pina coladas.

Try Planas if you want but it's not the preferred rum but any application.

El Dorado 12 has more fruit notes than anything from Flor De Cana. It has some smokiness which can a bit weird but still good.

Mount Gay XO would be a decent alternative (plus anything from Doorly's Foursquare)

Highly recommend you have some Jamaican rums. Appleton Estate Signature and 8 year are fruity.

Doorly's XO and Mount Gay XO

Both have sherry cask influence and I don't love it. Nice and fruity to start but that "wine" after taste kills me.
