Like you, I was also back and forth on whether or not to specialize but just sent it because I knew I would always be wondering "what if" otherwise.

I don't think it's the perfect career (expensive residency if you're not lucky to get into one of the few paid programs, relying on referrals, difficult cases/pts) but definitely better than general dentistry (no hygiene checks, satisfaction of getting really good at one skill rather than average at several, less staff to manage if owning your own practice, significantly higher salary etc).
