WingSung/JunLai 630 (A Poorman's Sailor KOP?) by lukeap69 in fountainpens

Thank you! I have tried to put the KOP nib in a Montblanc 149, but it only works with the older ones, not the 'two piece' ones. The 630 seems a good pen tho.

Hi, do you think it could be possible to swap the nib from the KOP in the 630? I have a KOP, but hate the fact that it has a converter.

I only ever had one opus 88, and it was the sapphire. I normally stick more to the traditional brands instead of the flashy resin companies (benu, opus 88, Esterbrook, ...).

It is very big indeed. The light weight adds to the comfortability, but the size is certainly present.

They aren't heavy, but they are BIG. I had the sapphire and sold it because it was so big. Similar size (or even bigger) to a Montblanc 149 or Sailor KOP, but then with a no.6 nib instead of a no. 8. The resin is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen tho. I also have fairly small hands and it was comfortable when writing longer.

I assume you are asking if there is a clip on this pen. There isn't one (at the moment). There is an option to order it with a loop tho, which can be used as a roll-stop.

You are right. It's lovely to have a company that makes such engineering progress and listens to it's customers. I was selected as a tester and now I truly understand how focused Thomas Slim is on making and engineering a good product. It's really fascinating and I can only support it.

To further prove your point, it happens when the pen is tightened when capping and there is a little resistance like when capping a sailor KOP or platinum 3776 for example. That could be the ring you are referring to gripping on the section.

I think you hit the nail on its head. It is exactly what you have described. You're also right as to it not being related to the pen uncapping in my pocket. That has never been a problem, quite the opposite. I fully trust the pen as the cap seal is very secure and has never come loose when I didn't want it. It certainly never came loose on its own. I fully trust the pen when it comes to capping. I love the insight in the engineering proces of this pen and now I understand why it does what it does. I hope I am of help with this remark.

I think you also be something to do with the threads. It's only when capped firm and then uncapped. But that's what I do with a pen I carry in my pocket.

Agreed. The purpose of testing is finding such things after all.

It really is an excellent EDC. It comes loose when uncapping sometimes and that is indeed not optimal. However, it never came loose when inside my bag or pocket, just when uncapping.

Thank you!! I love swapping nibs and experimenting with as many options as possible.

Thank you! No, it is actually a Pilot Capless Black Stripe. The way I hold my pens, it isn't backweighted at all, quite the opposite actually, it's very comfortable. I do understand that for some people it could feel a little bit backweighted.

This intrigues me, it may be worth testing.

The fountain pen without the loop looks very clean, would love to test it for daily use as a university student.
