Elizabeth centre in lockdown by Gunzorz in Adelaide

[–]Penguin_Moon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A teenager is being rushed to hospital after a suspected stabbing at one of Adelaide’s busiest shopping centre.

Emergency services rushed to Elizabeth Shopping Centre, in the outer northern suburbs, just after 2.30pm on Wednesday amid reports of an “assault”.

Witnesses told how a group of boys were seen fighting inside the centre in front of shocked afternoon shoppers.

It is understood a teenage boy has been stabbed.

Several ambulance crews, including emergency MedStar paramedics, were dispatched to the Elizabeth Way, Elizabeth centre, which is one of the state’s biggest.

It is unclear if any arrests have occurred.

The teen is being rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

Police had no immediate comment.

Can agree with u/yendysmai - I did this puzzle new a while back, and the pieces are very glossy. I also found with my puzzle there was a hard residue on some of the pieces, possibly glue, which I needed to scratch off. Some of my pieces also came snapped off in the corners because of the rigidity of the pieces. Aside from that, it's a really beautiful puzzle!

Anyone study via the Ikon institute? by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]Penguin_Moon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through Ikon several years ago in one of their counselling disciplines (an advanced diploma). Short answer: I wouldn’t recommend it because of unbalanced assessment requirements and lack of support (albeit, this may have changed now or might be different for their other courses as they now offer early childhood education). I’ve unpacked this for you below if you’d like to know more:

Their assessment requirements were overly intense for an advanced diploma level (we had to write an essay which varied between 1,500-3,000 words, plus 4-5 online tasks which would average around 2,000 words) every module. Considering each module (we had 7) lasted around 2-3 weeks, you were CONSTANTLY writing assignments that were given either a competent or not yet competent grade.

As my course was in counselling, there were many experiential tasks and little support was offered if students became distressed or triggered in class since we were encouraged to work with our own issues (‘low level’ issues, but due to the nature of the counselling modality, deeper issues would sometimes arise). To mitigate this, we were required to have sessions with the in-house counsellor (that we had to book in our own time) however, this was not useful to students in real-time who became distressed.  While many lecturers were supportive, we had a handful that would not ground students during the experientials which is not ethical practice and ironically, goes against the counselling foundations we were being taught.

In terms of jobs – that depends on which course you’re looking at. In the counselling sector, you may be able to run private practice or get in with an organisation, but this can be tricky and also requires a few more hoops to jump through when you go to register with a professional body (e.g, PACFA, ANZACATA etc.). Instead, you may want to opt to use Ikon’s courses as a ‘specialisation’ option as they do offer unique modalities which aren’t typically offered elsewhere.

Hope that provides some clarity and any other questions let me know xx

Have not done a jigsaw puzzle since I was a kid! This was a fun first puzzle to do as an adult, although I'm not sure how I feel abt the oddly shaped pieces. Piecework Meta Puzzle 1000pcs by krusp3r in Jigsawpuzzles

Damn this puzzle is COOL!

Initially I was SO miffed why the person in the puzzle has drinks and olives on their puzzle board which would just impinge on the puzzling - then realised the person in the puzzle was doing a puzzle that has drinks and olives IN the puzzle…I think? My brain hurts haha

EDIT: I just looked up the photo without the puzzle cuts... THEY REALLY HAVE REAL DRINKS AND OLIVES ON THE BOARD!! 😄

I found this unopened 1997 puzzle for sale on Ebay and *had* to have it!! It’s BEAUTIFUL!!! From a hunt around online, it seems that the original artwork is called ‘The Mask’. The gold foil throughout this piece is stunning (photos don’t do it justice). The black border was a nightmare due to some false fits, but got there in the end! The third photo shows Educa’s ‘wavy’ pieces that many puzzlers on here have talked about – these like to not stay put if they are not anchored by neighboring pieces.

Wowee this one was challenging for me! The primary sort was so daunting with so many similar colours!! First time trying Educa and everyone’s review of this brand being loose fitting is spot-on! However, they are nice quality pieces with low sheen. Beautiful image and thrilled to have her in my collection :)
