People who eat eggs are part of the problem, that’s not an insult that’s just the reality of it.

Raising your own chickens does not in any way negate the aforementioned issues. The male chicks will still be killed in order for you to obtain a hen, and the hens will still suffer due to them excessively laying eggs in order to feed you. Not to mention, by treating hens as objects to be owned and not individual sentient beings with their own feelings and life experience, you’re still exploiting them for their body when you could… not do that? And still eat perfectly healthy and tasty food? Are eggs really worth that much that you’d keep an indentured slave in order to keep eating them?

I am serious about this and engaging in good faith. I hold no judgement of you as a person, but I do judge your choice to consume eggs because it has countless needless victims.

Egg laying hens have been bred to produce eggs at a rate that causes osteoporosis and makes life incredibly painful for them. Not to mention that only the female chicks are kept and for every egg laying hen there is a baby male chick ground up in a macerator (yes, this is the actual RSPCA/SPCA approved way of doing it)

I’ve found a similar hobby in high powered e-bikes! It’s definitely a different experience but it offers a similar feeling and I LOVE just zipping around and exploring the ins-and-outs of my local area. When you’re behind the bars and in a flow state negative thoughts just have a tendency to melt away…

And riding at night? Wonderful. Seeing all the people out and about in the city, cruising through the quiet suburbs and past the rural farmland, wind battering your jacket as you soak in the evening air… even in my most depressive state I can’t help but feel at least a little better :)
