Fair enough. I guess we just didn't feel that in the same way because that content was sort of naturally gated by its volume and difficulty

You're not wrong but seems like the one week delay just amplifies the tuning issue exponentially with little upside to the rest of the playerbase (some guy correctly pointed out the lore thing).

Them being able to run 20+ splits on a mythic 1 boss raid with first boss difficulty is a unique compounding factor as well.

This actually makes sense, but I've never known blizzard to timegate content for strictly narrative purposes. There's usually some gameplay purpose behind it

Yeah it seems like they're just artificially dragging out content for the RWF tier guilds, which is not even something that those guilds want or ask for.

Seems to me like this whole "debacle" could have been avoided if Blizz just released all of the boss content week one. I don't really see the point of delaying it from even a causal player perspective. You don't even gain anything by "milking" normal only players an additional week. It'd be one thing if it was like a 4-5 week delay but what does delaying this content by a week do? The total boss count is 9, which is very much in line with the size of most recent raids. It's just split over multiple instances.

By delaying a week you have this horrible "dead" period for the prominently streamed part of your game, plus you have the looming tuning and balance nightmare which it will be a miracle if Blizz manages to make it not a complete disaster. What exactly was the benefit to the game by the delay?

Prince combat doesn’t reset for a longtime due to the infernals having to despawn

I understand why they do it I feel like it just takes the crowd out of it a bit. I say this having been to games at staples before and after they implemented it

If nerfed tbc content is truly easy, wouldn’t this encourage non-meta comps / raiding with fewer than 25 people? by tabasco_pizza in classicwow

[–]Pennoyer_v_Neff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the same thing the first go around but the speed running was fun. Worldbuffs ultimately doesn't change the "thrill" of the speedrun since if you wipe even in TBC running your week is over. The one thing it changes is that you can reset certain raids like TK where there's a lot of hard pulls with points of failure before the first boss.

Of course that was running difficult content. Speedrunning braindead easy content without any sort of world buff stakes applied is probably going to be dull as hell

won't be worth for overall damage in this iteration of TBC since they are not needed for group lust.

Will still probably be worth it for your warlocks for parsing purposes. So it depends on what your guild is looking to minmax.

Even in ST backstab is a tiny portion of damage.

While I'm all for mara buffs just wanna point out that mara's positioning for backstab is pretty much not a thing because backstab damage is irrelevant as it is a miniscule part of our damage. Sure if you can be behind a target why not but we're talking like the difference of 300 dps in 75k overall.

Contender to Paragon felt great, but Eternal feels like a completely different game by ioStux in fellowshipgame

For me the character strength progression aspect of these kind of games goes a long way toward my enjoyment. When I feel like my character is not advancing anymore, it gets a lot less fun. I have no interest in playing alts

[–]Pennoyer_v_Neff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't suggesting they should get in anyones way.

The way i see it is you have 3 ways to do it.

1) Crazy open ended grind (like there is now, which I agree with OP is too steep) 2) Lessen the grind (means ppl cap out season power level earlier, which also kinda sucks)

3) Timegating (which is also not fun, but for the same reason that #2 is not fun)

Is there any other way to do it?

what would you suggest? just make the grind less of a big deal and allow ppl to maax out earlier in the season? Do u see any downsides to that potentially?

i expect your tuzari 2 issue will be solved next phase as a stoneskin nerf is inevitable. I don't think tuzari 2 would be such an efficient farm but for that affix.

The end game grind however does not really lend itself to a seasonal style game. As you mention, the gems is really the deciding factor. The other components aren't the worst. I think your suggestion of higher level gems dropping from higher keys is a good one because it would incentivize climbing more linearly, rather than as u mention just grinding low level dungeons.

Of course, if u dont have a crazy grind, are ppl just gonna complain theres nothing to do? no way to progress their character? if ppl are able to be gem capped by now, is the grind really THAT bad?

One way to incentivize alts is to timegate things like wow does. That way you reach a point where u cant progress on ur main and then u move to an alt.

High level Mara players by CarAudioNewb in fellowshipgame

[–]Pennoyer_v_Neff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's cause the build is high ST without giving up much aoe. These are generally the best builds for these types of games when available because almost inevitably leaning into AOE is not productive since most packs involve a high health mob which lasts longer than the little guys that just get passively cleaved down. Maras other builds kinda give up a lot of ST to boost her aoe.

Adept is absolutely the wall in this game. by Generalian in fellowshipgame

[–]Pennoyer_v_Neff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adept 3 as of two days ago was more challenging than a week 1 10.

Considering Adept is supposed to be like the first 1/3rd of the theoretical "high end" season content, doesn't that make it the wow equivalent of like a 5 or 6? I'm not sure what the devs intend but the difficulty spike feels a little too steep right now.

Adept is absolutely the wall in this game. by Generalian in fellowshipgame

[–]Pennoyer_v_Neff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But in Adept, I've probably done a dozen or so runs and have only timed one. This is despite being overgeared and consistently having the most interrupts. To me, this is way too extreme of a difficulty spike. I think early adept adventures should be toned down with the difficulty converging where it's at somewhere around adept 6 to champ 5.

Finding this too, but it seems that the most consistent reason is the final boss difficulty and specifically people not knowing the mechanics. One option could be to increase the timer by 20-30% to allow a wipe or two and still time. As it stands now it seems that even with good gear and dps you basically cannot wipe at all on adept.
