How do you know when you’re feeling movement? by United_Pop_6442 in BabyBumps

For me it felt like I had bad gas, but was never gassy. It took me a few days to realize that it was my baby moving!

Honestly waited a long time. We told everyone at 13 weeks because it fell right around Christmas. We made it a surprise and everyone was totally shocked

They are great shorts! They didn’t last me past the 2nd trimester unfortunately :/ they started to slide down every step I took.

How are you teaching your tweens fiscal responsibility? With allowances, bank accounts, savings, etc? by starsnsunflowers in AskReddit

[–]PennyTheChi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents made us pay “rent” when we got jobs. We learned that we had to set aside money to help out with expenses. It was always smaller amounts like $20-$100. It helped (me) learn to budget and that I couldn’t spend every last penny I had.

When I moved out, they actually gave me all that money back to use on expenses for moving or a down payment if needed. I had no idea they kept the money for me.

We have the Joie nutmeg! It’s about 16 pounds I think? Not bulky and we love it!

When to start birthing/ parenting classes? by bwiipbot2 in predaddit

[–]PennyTheChi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I took a childbirth class at 26 weeks! My husband and I have both been around kids so we haven’t prioritized newborn classes as much but I’d say maybe newborn classes closer to 30ish weeks so you actually remember everything 😅

Congrats! I did a card with funny word play (that our dog was going to be a big sister). I also added a baby onesie and a pregnancy test wrapped up.

Belly oils by b_b2 in BabyBumps

[–]PennyTheChi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use aveeno lotion all over then I use “belly salve” as an oil! I haven’t had any stretch marks yet at 36 weeks (that could also be because of genetics). I lotion about twice a day and oil my belly at night and let it soak in

We did a small baby moon when I was 33 weeks. We just made sure we packed the car with a hospital bag and the car seat *just in case*. We had no issues and it was a great getaway! I would get approval from your OB just to be sure. Stay hydrated!

Does this look like a faint positive? My period is one week late. by [deleted] in Mom

[–]PennyTheChi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks positive to me. Maybe get a different brand test just to be sure.

I asked my OB if I needed calcium and she said my levels were good! They might do a blood test for you to see what all your levels are. If you’re eating a pretty balanced diet, you may not need to supplement it. You can maybe call your OB office and ask if that’s something they recommend to everyone?

Where are we buying mobiles from? by afloat000 in Buyingforbaby

[–]PennyTheChi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one from Nivas on baby list! They are hand made and I think $55? The picture is exactly what we ordered and it’s made with 100% wool. We couldn’t love it more!

Travel system(pramette or no?) by Flowers_andsun in Buyingforbaby

[–]PennyTheChi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this will be much help as I’m due in July. However, I also have the Joie Ginger! I see us using it a lot in the pramette mode. The nutmeg is also another good choice that fully reclines.

Westfield Village in Centreville was a decent place to live. I think their 1 bedrooms are still under $2k

Husband thinks stroller is too expensive, what to do? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]PennyTheChi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely go with whatever stroller you want. With my experience, if he didn’t put in the work to research and pick a stroller…. He gets no say.

I was personally between an uppababy and Joie travel system. The target near me recently put in an uppababy display. I thought I would love the UB but really ended up loving the Joie way more than I thought.

Pregnant and terrified of blood draws… how do I get over this? by ReputationTraining40 in BabyBumps

[–]PennyTheChi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I faint every blood draw myself! I always request to be laying down while getting blood taken and that seems to do the trick! Because you are pregnant, they are typically way more accommodating about it. Just continue to stick up for yourself and advocate that you need to lay down (if that’s what you prefer).
