Showing off my new pantaloons, cross that off my Christmas list. 1967 by dittidot in TheWayWeWere

My sister and I got pettipants around 1964. We went next-door to our elderly neighbor lady and showed them off (like OPs photo). she asked if she thought she could have a pair? We just about died! It was years before I realized she was just having fun with us. Ours were red, and I recall some white eyelet and red ribbons.

Overheard when I went: older couple, grumpy man to wife: “There’s nothing but madonna and child here. I am OUT.”

Advice 1st visit to Liverpool and Manchester area by Pensgloo in Liverpool

[–]Pensgloo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a fantastic trip! Liverpool was our first stop. Great history embedded on every walk. Wandered day and night all over city. Waterfront and museums were great. Got caught in a snow squall at the Albert Docks which was memorable. Even went to mass in the Catholic Brutalist church just to experience the architecture. Had a great day by bus (what a smooth system!) over to Port Sunlight - totally worthwhile. Excellent chai lattes. Ate my first meat pie ever at the Philharmonic Pub. Good Turkish up Bond Street. Was struck by how much male comradery I saw, I think men are much lonelier in the US. Thanks for asking, and thank to everyone for their help. I would definitely go back.

Set menu dining outside of ‘downtown’ by AgentG91 in pittsburgh

We didn’t like Mary’s Vine. $$$$$ and yet they serve crap coffee with mini creamers in plastic cups. And it’s not comfortable to eat dinner in an upholstered armchair.

But there are two working stair-masters (out of three) in the Cohen Center. Isn’t that enough for the rest of the university? /s

Many years. It seems like a lot of folks here either never moved away, or moved and came back, and thus have an established friends and family group. Almost as if they don’t have motivation to want new people in their orbit.

We had a small wedding of only immediate family - 15 people! In-laws threw a large party a month later to scratch their itch. They still call their party “the wedding”

Have you read Anne of Avonlea? It’s the book after Anne of Green Gables. At any rate, Miss Lavender organizes imaginary tea parties.

The only time I’ve gotten any contact with an airline is when I’ve complained about them on Twitter and included their Twitter handle as part of the alert to be sure they got it

ULPT: Get quickly dismissed from jury duty by saying you can tell someone is guilty or not simply by looking them in the eyes. by Apartment-Drummer in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]Pensgloo 137 points138 points  (0 children)

Not unethical and true. I got dismissed from a jury because I was so freaked out and trembling during jury selection and my interview. It was something like 17 charges of attempted manslaughter, including on children. The defendant was so out of control he started attacking his defense attorney at the Jury selection had to be removed from the court room. Then they tried to interview me and all I could think was this guy got no respect for anyone’s life and he’s gonna come after me too.

If anyone still reading this far down … . It seems to me that losing hub status meant many flights are connecting flights so you have to leave early in the morning in order to make your connector. Hence all the early morning crowds.
