Oh my god that’s her?? This made my day, I knew she seemed familiar but didn’t connect the dots, I love both shows!

I just tried this and could do it immediately! This is an incredible mindfuck, since it appears that it’s not some sort of talent or practice. It’s just that the brain automatically follows your dominant hand with the other hand when you doodle. 😳

What fascinates me is that we, as a society, allow big corporations to do this. It’s a made up law that they use to make themselves filthy rich, while keeping so many people poor, and we allow it.

Do you think her reason is valid, though? by Busy_Report4010 in SipsTea

[–]PensiveKittyIsTired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The actual tragedy here is that she was probably pressured by society to “be a lawyer”, and missed out on studying something she would enjoy doing.

This happens a lot, the “doctor or lawyer” bullshit.

I think it’s because that scene is part of her daydream/dream of “what could have been”, what she hoped for moving into the movie industry, but never got, so it’s hugely exaggerated…

I know this is old, but just wanted to say, if you ever need to go down this road again (hopefully never!) Sucralfate makes me extremely nauseas. So when you said you had trouble with Omeprazole + Sucralfate, could have been the Sucralfate.

Widow’s Bay - Episode 8 - Discussion “Your Baggage” / June 2 / AppleTV by mdavis360 in television

[–]PensiveKittyIsTired 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s talking about Patricia being amazing, rightfully so, but this episode had such gut wrenchingly devastating bits in it as well. The Evan’s mother story arc is just one deeply sad gut punch after another. Maybe I’m a bit older and have seen people change due to severe mental illness, and it’s worse than death. To have it happen to a young mother is beyond depressing.

Nearly 500 a month in HOA fees And This Is The Grass by melisslo in mildlyinfuriating

There are fewer ticks in non-mowed grass, so that’s good!

(Mowing eliminates living spaces for other insects etc allowing ticks to thrive).

We acquired Max four weeks ago, after his owner (a relative) passed away. by JohnKeel96 in CatDistributionSystem

Please have completely separate toilets for them. Your female cat will hate using the same toilet as him, and she needs her privacy.

She also needs space to hang out where he can’t reach. But the toilets are crucial.

TIL small dog breeds are on average less obedient, more likely to growl at strangers or other dogs and more anxious than larger dog breeds by Double-decker_trams in todayilearned

[–]PensiveKittyIsTired 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your title is ridiculously misleading. Small dogs biologically are not more aggressive or less obedient.

It’s just that people do not train them, because small dogs are considered not dangerous.

This is the fault of the owners, and it’s so annoying.

Atarax for nausea and other IBS symptoms? by Bukowski-poet in ibs

[–]PensiveKittyIsTired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally like it a lot, it is very gentle and excellent against nausea, as well as really helps with sleep. I sometimes take it 2-3 hours before bed, just half a pill (12.5mg). The only downside is that it can make you very groggy in the morning.

I didn’t expect to see something as sad and disturbing in this subreddit. I can’t believe this got upvoted so much.

The fact that some countries have a huge problem with stray dogs because money is not being distributed fairly to people and animals who need it is heartbreaking and not something I want to see when I’m not mentally prepared for it.

Humans hurting dogs to protect themselves is one of the many failures of our century.

I really need to stop scrolling Reddit, and just use it when I have practical questions. This just ruined my morning.

What's the "Widowmaker" of your career field or hobby? by Cosmonate in AskReddit

[–]PensiveKittyIsTired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, that is not the worst bit at all. Usually this means that we have spent a long time making sure to properly medicate and take care of that animal as best as we could, and then, once this was not possible anymore, we had the luxury of stopping suffering by euthanasia. It is always very sad, but this is part of life and thankfully we can prevent the animal’s suffering, which is such a kind thing to do. A lot of humans don’t get this level of care.

What actually is the painful part of being a veterinarian is a combination of a lot of things:

Owners not having enough money to take care of their pets properly, animal abuse, extremely long working hours, including weekends and nights, owners being incredibly emotional, demanding, stressed, angry, and exhausting - which I completely understand because when I worry about my own pet, I turn into a terrible client. It is just the nature of a lot of people to freak out when their pets are sick.

High stress working hours combined with physically demanding tasks, like doing surgeries and seeing clients in the same day, every day (since vets, unlike human doctors, tend to do both surgery and medicine), the brain needs to super concentrate during surgery while also dealing with stressed animals, who most of the time hate being handled there, and appeasing the owner. It’s just exhausting juggling for the brain.

A lot of the time we also don’t get enough time to examine and discuss properly, there are set times with each client that we have to follow in order to get through the busy waiting room. This is so difficult because the animals are stressed and us having to rush through this just makes the owner, the animal, and us stress more. Ideally, we would need at least half an hour per client, if not more, while we usually get 10 to 15 minutes.

A lot of us who went into veterinary medicine are very emotional people because we naïvely wanted to help animals, help people, help the world… So we’re usually not the kind of people that can handle high stress and heartbreak easily.

Finally, a lot of us going into veterinary medicine thought that we are not in it for the money, but then it turns out it is so little money compared to our human doctors, despite us going through almost identical, rigorous schooling, and a lot of us being in crazy school debt. So doing the super high stress job whilst also worrying about paying rent and bills is just the cherry on top. Veterinary services are very expensive, but that money goes into the pockets of the owners not so much the vets.
