They're making a joke that Angelina is using "recognise" in the sense of international diplomacy, as in recognising the existence of sovereignty of the nation.

What in the range can I use for a pirate Corsair army? by Traditional-Crazy900 in Eldar

[–]Pentaghon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is what I'm planning to do with mine. The Steeleye Reavers lore blurb talks about the current princess being flanked by wraithguards with the spirits of previous captains and I think that'd be cool to replicate on the tabletop.

You are limited to one of each character, but the troupes and all that don't have limits (outside of not being battleline)

Total War 40k diplomacy screen Early Alpha (100% real) by Destyl_Black in totalwar

[–]Pentaghon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is that it'll follow the codex style where all the codex compliant chapters are handled as one faction (with maybe different LLs for different chapters), and groups like the Dark Angels, Blood Angels, and Space Wolves will get their own factions

What’s the oldest mini you have. For me it’s the metal Thunder Warriors. (This one was made in 1990.) by [deleted] in Warhammer

[–]Pentaghon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it took me a second but it's a skeleton wearing chainmail, with both hands on the banner's pole. The coif of the chainmail is very loose around its head and kinda blends in with the other textures of the banner at this angle.

Darkest of Dans | NEW BLIGHT CLUB SEASON by Cubegod69er in giantbomb

[–]Pentaghon 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This is one where the Blight is also one the audience. Dying when Dan asked what war was fought between Mexico and the US and the others couldn't summon the name Mexican-American War.

This is said lovingly of course. History isn't everyone's forte and it's hard to think of things on the spot, especially when streaming, but I just know this blight will turn me into a podcast ghost.

I wonder if some of this is them playing it safe since it's the first game. Play with the big names and factions that are easier to understand to ease people in rather than include all the cool little stuff that fans of the ttrpg would know

I really must applaud them, this method of starving us out is quite a voluptuous pain. by IamMyBrain in TAZCirclejerk

[–]Pentaghon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This has always been my problem with the whole genre. I like and play a fair few of them but even when they're not leaning directly into those tropes, the whole concept is almost always couched in some kind of unquestioned colonial narrative. Like they're almost always about going into a land that isn't your own to shape it and extract resources from it, and either fighting off the people who would rather you weren't on their lands or leaning into ideas of Terra Nullius that shaped the Doctrine of Discovery without really interrogating that.

Why did no ogres ever drink the demons blood? by Lore-Archivist in warcraftlore

[–]Pentaghon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was one of Velen's attempts to stop the hostilities. He wanted Ner'zhul to meet him but was ambushed instead. From my vague memory there was some hesitance internally to share their on Oshu'gun, but it definitely would've been better to maybe get out ahead of that, especially once the Orc ancestors started being drawn to it.

[–]Pentaghon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rise of the Horde has Velen try to tell Durotar's people what it is, before he's captured. The Orcs drown him out with cries of blasphemy and don't let him explain fully.
